They have been working to schedule appointments well into the evenings and will also be working this weekend to continue to schedule appointments. With 1,000s of requests for COVID 19 vaccination, DHD4 will continue to add appointment slots and clinics as vaccine supplies are confirmed. Create an Emergency Preparedness Plan for your Family In the event of an emergency, natural or otherwise, it is important to make sure that your family’s basic needs are being met and that they are safe. The most effective way to do this is to have a plan in place. It’s very easy to panic during an emergency; being mentally and physically prepared may help to minimize that feeling of panic and enable you to keep your family calm, cool, collected, and most importantly, safe. An emergency preparedness plan should include a disaster supply kit, as well as any emergency essentials. Emergency preparedness supplies should also be arranged and easily accessible. While your family’s emergency plan will be unique to you, there are a few general points that will help to best prepare you for success.

Presque Isle County is located along Lake Huron on the northeastern shore of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. The County has an area of 678 square miles (approximately 433,928 acres), which includes 72 miles of shoreline.

The County consists of  14 Townships, 2 Cities, and 2 Villages. The County seat is located in Rogers City at 151 E Huron, 41 miles east of Interstate 75 on M68 and 37 miles north of the City of Alpena on US 23. The population of Presque Isle County according to the 2010 census was 13,376.

The County has three lighthouses and three marinas located on Lake Huron. The 40 Mile Pointe Lighthouse is the new county park. Presque Isle also contains four state parks: Hoeft State Park located in Rogers Township just outside of Rogers City, Onaway State Park located north of the City of Onaway. Rockport State Park located south of Rogers City and Thompson Harbor State Park located also south of Rogers City.

There are numerous State Forest campgrounds located throughout the county. One of them is located at the Ocqueoc Falls in Ocqueoc Township just off M-68 between Rogers City and Onaway. The Ocqueoc Falls is known as the largest waterfall in the Lower Peninsula. Presque Isle County is also known for its karst formations of underground rivers and sinkholes and contains the world’s largest open-pit limestone quarry with a deep-water port.

Presque Isle County is in the 1st Congressional District, the 37th State Senatorial District, and the 106th State Representative District. The County is part of the 53rd Judicial Circuit, 89th Judicial District Court, and District Health Department #4. Presque Isle County has a five-member Board of Commissioners. Board of Commissioner meetings are open to the public and are held at the County Building, 151 E. Huron, Rogers City. Beginning in 2019, all meetings are the second Thursday at 4:00 p.m each month.
