Mercedes-Benz S 550 Biturbo

For decades, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan has been a name synonymous with refinement, sophistication and luxury in the automotive world. Mercedes is looking to add another tag to this legacy with the addition of some serious performance enhancements to the 2012 S 550 Biturbo sedan. Automotive enthusiast and guest editor Jim Williams was enticed by this augmentation, and just had to give it a test drive.

As many auto enthusiasts know, the S 550 has always retained an exceptional standard of luxury. The 2011 iteration of the S 550, for example, featured a plush and spacious interior lined with elegant furnishings, including high-gloss trim in cashmere beige and alpaca grey; leather seating and plenty of legroom for backseat passengers. Mercedes has stayed faithful to that standard with the 2012 S 550 Biturbo, however, this urbane sedan has a special secret.

At first glance, the simple and esthetically familiar exterior of the S 550 Biturbo may give thoughts of unpretentious, reserved luxury, but don’t be fooled – this gentleman is an assassin. Much like Clark Kent at a wedding, the sophisticated appearance of the S 550 Biturbo masks the raw power hidden within. “The 2012 model we tested is a 429-horsepower Biturbo engine,” says Williams. “It produces 516 pounds of torque and gives you a 10 – 15 per cent increase in fuel efficiency.” This staggering amount of horsepower and torque is 38 more ponies and 125 more pounds of torque than the previous 5.4-litre V-8 engine S 550, even though the 2012 Biturbo uses a smaller 4.6-L engine.

The 2012 S 550 draws this newfound muscle from its burly, direct injected, twin-turbo V-8 engine. “Compared to the normally aspirated sedan, this car actually has all the acceleration that you want,” says Williams. “It’s instant gratification and it has no turbo lag whatsoever.”

The 2011 S 550 was already running 0 – 100 kilometres per hour in 5.4 seconds. With additional power pumping through the veins of this modestly clad animal, the S 550 Biturbo expeditiously accelerates from 0 – 100 km/h in five seconds flat. This impressive time creeps up on recent renditions of many high-powered sports cars, including the Maserati GranTurismo S, Audi R8 and Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and even stays tight in the rear-view mirror of the much more powerful Mercedes V12 S 600. No doubt, the Biturbo is a sleeper, through and through.

All that power doesn’t mean a sacrifice to the drive. As Williams explains, “Even though the new S 550 Biturbo we tested is a short wheel base, it still gives you that luxurious ride that you’ve come to expect from Mercedes-Benz, thanks to its Airmatic air suspension with Adaptive Damping System [(ADS)].” What’s more, much like the 2011 S 550, the model Williams tested came equipped with Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, making it far more prepared for the icy Canadian winters than its rear-wheel-drive kin.

Although this added performance boost may seem superfluous to those simply looking for a luxury sedan for the family, it is still a viable option for drivers who desire the best of both worlds. This car is a benchmark in touring sedans, and an excellent addition to the garage of those searching for a car that doesn’t sacrifice power for comfort. As Williams concludes, “Overall, the new S 550 Biturbo gives you all the characteristics that you’ve come to expect from Mercedes-Benz, and gives you the extra power and fuel efficiency that you’ve been looking for.”

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Expert Review

Staff Writer

This generation of Mercedes' flagship sedan was all-new for the 2007 model year, with much more aggressive lines and a lot of really cool technology. This was an especially big challenge for the automaker, as this was the first major upgrade since BMW introduced its Bangle-designed 7 Series. Would Mercedes make this S-Class a response to the BMW or would it keep the full-size luxury sedan classy and conservative?

This generation is both. It retains the interior amenities that the S-Class is known for, the sportiness and handling of Mercedes, and much more technology than ever before. There are features like infrared night assist, inflatable air bolsters in the driver seat and laser cruise control that brakes when too close to the next car and accelerate when there's enough distance.

There are six powertrains: a 241 horsepower V-6; a 295 horsepower V-6-based hybrid; a 382 horsepower V-8; a 5.5-liter V-12 with 510 horsepower; a 536 horsepower, 5.5-liter AMG twin-turbo V-8; and a 621-horsepower AMG V-12 with an amazing 738 pound-feet of torque. Both V-12s use a five-speed automatic, the rest use a seven-speed.

Body styles: SedanEngines: 3.0L V-6, 3.5L V-6, 5.5L V-8, 5.5L V-12, 6.2L V-8, 6.0L V-12Transmissions: 7-speed automatic, 5-speed automatic Models: S400 Hybrid, S550, S600, S63 AMG, S65 AMG

Last year's S63 AMG had a 6.2-liter, 518 horsepower V-8; for 2011, it has been replaced by a 536-horse, 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 with direct injection and start/stop technology. The other new engine is the automaker's 241 horsepower, 3.0-liter diesel with 429 pound-feet that comes standard with all-wheel drive. The hybrid gets new wheels and dark brown eucalyptus wood, the S600 gets larger 19-inch wheels and the S65 AMG's horsepower increases by 17 horsepower.

This generation S-Class is more modern and aggressive than the vehicle it replaces. Its styling is nearly 7 Series meets Maybach. In addition to new wheel options, the S-Class has Magnetite Black as a new color.

The S-Class cabin contains cool features, such as the Splitview dual content screen, in a surprisingly low-key cabin covered in leather, aluminum, and wood. Rear-seat legroom is more than generous, as is the 16.3 cubic-foot trunk.

The S550 reached to 60 in 5.3 seconds, went through the quarter mile in 13.8 seconds at 102.3 mph, and the 4600-pound sedan only needed 115 feet to stop from 60. One of the most impressive things about the S-Class, though, is that there doesn't seem to be much of a ride/handling compromise. The sedan's suspension absorbs road imperfections, yet has a high level of grip -- 0.89 g on the skidpad -- and Active Body Control keeps the Benz flat during hard cornering.

Eight airbags are standard, with dual front, front and rear side, and front and rear curtains. There are disc brakes with ABS and brake assist, plus Mercedes' Pre-Safe system. It also comes with stability control and traction control.

S400 Hybrid: 19 mpg city/25 mpg highway S550: 15 mpg city/23 mpg highwayS550 4Matic: 14 mpg city/21 mpg highwayS600, S65 AMG: 11 mpg city/17 mpg highway S63 AMG: 11 mpg city/18 mpg highway

2012 Mercedes-Benz S550 P.O.V Review

Two hours later, slowly, I was already at home. He heated the bathhouse and, having washed himself, lay down to rest. And in the evening, having coped with all the affairs, I recalled that it was and, being very excited, jerked off my penis for a long. Time until I finished twice in a row.

Similar news:

I rolled my tongue into a tube and tried to penetrate it as deep as possible into the vagina. My friends belly was floating up and down, her ass was influencing, and her face was contorted with contented grimaces. She rubbed her breasts under her T-shirt and moaned verse. It was clear that she was about to explode.
