When Will Jesse Metcalfe Film New Hallmark ‘Martha’s Vineyard Mystery’?

Last Spring, Jesse Metcalfe shocked Chesapeake Shores fans by leaving the show. However, Hallmark fans have been holding out hope he will be in a future Christmas movie. Moreover, they always look forward to the latest Martha’s Vineyard Mystery.

What is the latest news on an upcoming mystery?

When Is Jesse Metcalfe Filming Next Hallmark Martha’s Vineyard Mystery?

When Jesse Metcalfe’s last episode on Chesapeake Shores aired, he spoke with ET to discuss his next step. One of those questions included whether he would continue working with Hallmark. Specifically, whether he would do more of his signature mystery.

“Yeah, I absolutely love doing the Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries movies. They’re great. The source material’s incredible. We actually have to dial it back from the books. The Philip R. Craig books are so irreverent. They’re actually a really fun read, but I love executive producing on that because I love being a part of every aspect of producing a show and I find it so rewarding.”

Metcalfe seemed to enjoy filming these movies. Moreover, he enjoys his production role as well. So, what is next for the series?

Hallmark Is On ‘Holding Pattern’ With Mysteries

Although Jesse Metcalfe starred in Poisoned In Paradise: A Martha Vineyard Mystery earlier this year, when is the next movie? As of last month, he did not know.

Although he appreciated working on the series, he explained that things are changing now under the new regime.

“Obviously, I have Hallmark to thank for that opportunity but a lot of changes have happened over at Hallmark and everyone’s in a bit of a holding pattern waiting to see which direction they go, which TV shows and movies they continue to support, and which ones end up on the chopping block.”

This means that Hallmark is evaluating their mysteries. Even this Fall Harvest season, most of the Sunday movies on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries have been on the movie side.

Just like during Christmas time, the movies on the sister network that are currently scheduled are more serious, with some emotional subjects.

However, when will the network decide on the various mystery series? That is a question that no one has an answer to. Hallmark has been going through a lot of changes of late. No one knows if they are evaluating each Signature Mystery franchise, or if they plan on changing their overall format.

That is the current mystery.

Catch Jesse Metcalfe Sing Classic Pink Floyd Song

If you are a Chessie and miss Jesse Metcalfe’s songs, then head over to his Instagram. He often will share videos of him playing guitar and singing songs.

In the past few days, he posted an Instagram video of himself singing the classic Pink Floyd song, “Wish You Were Here.” His caption is, “I like sad songs.”

Let’s hope that songs are the only sad thing in his life. Fans of the Desperate Housewives star want to see more movies!

Jesse Metcalfe fans, do you want to see another Martha’s Vineyard Mystery?

EXCLUSIVE: Hallmark Channel’s hit series Chesapeake Shores is losing its leading man. Jesse Metcalfe will be departing the multi-generational family drama in its upcoming fifth season.

“A new season of Hallmark Channel’s highly popular scripted series, Chesapeake Shores, is returning this summer. Jesse Metcalfe, who plays Trace Riley, has decided to leave the show. His character’s storyline will wrap up early in Season Five,” Hallmark Channel said in a statement to Deadline. “Jesse is a valued member of the Crown Media family; we look forward to continuing to work with him on projects, including original movies on Hallmark Channel, as well as his Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ movie series, Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries, the next installment of which premieres on May 16. In addition, we are currently in development on another movie in the series.”

According to sources, Metcalfe is currently in Canada and set to film Trace’s final scenes as the series, also starring Meghan Ory, is heading back to production.

The upcoming fifth season, which was ordered last summer, consists of 10 episodes and is expected to mark the series’ return to its regular Sunday night time period.

Chesapeake Shores revolves around the O’Brien family and centers on the eldest daughter Abby O’Brien (Ory), a high-powered career woman and divorced mother of two who returns home and rekindles her relationship with her high school sweetheart, successful singer-songwriter Trace Riley (Metcalfe). In the Season 4 finale, which aired in September 2019, Abby and Trace seemingly got back together after spending the season apart and entertaining new love interests.

Based on the Sherryl Woods novels, Chesapeake Shores also stars Treat Williams, Barbara Niven, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny and Andrew Francis.

Jesse Metcalfe Hallmark Movies

Fairfield Road: 53
Sept. 11, 2010

Natalie Lisinska and Jesse Metcalfe

“Noah McManus finds out his new boss in Washington is a corrupt Senator who can no longer employ him and that his girlfriend has been cheating on him. Devastated, Noah travels to a quaint Cape Cod town.”

While it’s a very simple movie, it’s also full of heart and beautiful views. Ah, Hallmark back in the good ol’ days.

A Country Wedding: 43
Jun. 27, 2015

Autumn Reeser and Jesse Metcalfe

“A famous country singer set to marry a glamorous Hollywood actress returns to his small town roots. When he crosses paths with his childhood sweetheart – and finally feels inspired to write songs again – he reevaluates his life, his values and his opinion of true love. As his wedding day approaches, he must decide if he has chosen the right woman to be his wife.”

The original music hurt my ears, and I didn’t feel the romance. At all.

Chesapeake Shores Season 1: 55.8
Aug. 14 – Oct. 9, 2016

Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Barbara Niven, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, Andrew Francis, Diane Ladd, and Treat Williams

“Abby O’Brien Winters returns to Chesapeake Shores when she receives a panicked phone call from her younger sister Jess, who has renovated the charming Inn at Eagle Point. The Maryland town her father built has many sad memories and Abby, thanks to her demanding career, divorce and young twin daughters, has not had time to spare.”

Chesapeake Shores Season 2: 55.6
Aug. 6 – Oct. 7, 2017

Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Barbara Niven, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, Andrew Francis, Diane Ladd, and Treat Williams

“Season two of the multi-generational family drama “Chesapeake Shores” follows Abby O’Brien, a high-powered career woman, divorcee and mother to twin daughters, as she adjusts to life back in her hometown of Chesapeake Shores.”

Christmas Next Door: 50.5
Dec. 16, 2017

Fiona Gubelmann and Jesse Metcalfe

“Eric Randall, an author of bachelor lifestyle books, is left in charge of his young niece and nephew for the holidays. Eric turns to his neighbor April, a lover of all things Christmas, for help.”

Chesapeake Shores Season 3: 56.2

Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Barbara Niven, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, Andrew Francis, Diane Ladd, and Treat Williams

“Based on the novels of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods, “Chesapeake Shores” stars Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Treat Williams, Diane Ladd, Barbara Niven, Laci Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny and Andrew Francis.”

Chesapeake Shores Season 4: 58.9
Aug. 25 – Sept. 29, 2019

Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Barbara Niven, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, Andrew Francis, Diane Ladd, and Treat Williams

“As Trace returns to Chesapeake Shores, hoping to get back to the life he had with Abby, he and the O’Briens each face new personal and professional decisions about their futures and learn whether or not it’s worth taking a second chance to make things right.”

Christmas Under the Stars: 46.5
Nov. 16, 2019

Autumn Reeserand Jesse Metcalfe

“When Nick, a career-focused investment banker, is fired from his high-powered firm at Christmastime, he takes a job at a Christmas tree lot owned by a warmhearted widower. There, he meets Julie, an astronomy teacher who’s always looked to the stars for hope. As the Christmas spirit washes over him — and he begins falling for Julie — the once self-centered Nick discovers the joy of helping others.”

Autumn Reeser and Jesse Metcalfe team up again for the first time since A Country Wedding. This script is a much better use of their chemistry.

A Beautiful Place to Die: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery: 52
Jan. 12, 2020

Jesse Metcalfe and Sarah Lind

“After being forced into early retirement, former detective Jeff Jackson returns to a quiet life on Martha’s Vineyard. Quiet, at least, until a body washes up and he’s drawn back into crime solving.”

If you like a good mystery, this is the movie to watch. There are enough interpersonal relationships to give the story more depth, but the main focus is definitely the mystery.

Riddled With Deceit: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery: 48.5
Feb. 23, 2020

Jesse Metcalfe and Sarah Lind

“Former detective Jeff Jackson teams up with Dr. Zee Madeiras to track down their friend’s missing emerald brooch, a thief, and also… a murderer.”

I got a bit more annoyed with the rich and privileged characters in this installment. However, in addition to the main mystery, there’s also the introduction of another possible mystery involving who really shot Jeff.

Ships in the Night: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery: 51
Jan. 17, 2021

Jesse Metcalfe and Sarah Lind

“When an art gallery robbery leads to the death of the contemptible gallery manager, former Boston detective Jeff Jackson teams up with local Doctor – and old flame – Dr. Zee Madeiras, to catch the killer.”

While this third installment is a bit less gritty than its predecessors, the pacing is on point and it is action-packed. Also, Jeff and Dr. Zee relationship progresses well throughout this movie.

Poisoned in Paradise: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery: 48
May 16, 2021

Jesse Metcalfe and Sarah Lind

“When a local waitress is found dead on the beach and a mysterious deposit appears in Zee’s bank account, Martha’s Vineyard proves to be all but the simple, scenic life Jeff Jackson was after.”

This installment lacks a bit of the heart and grit of previous movies, but it should still be entertaining for fans of the series.

Jesse Metcalfe Tackles New Challenges in Hallmark's "A Beautiful Place to Die"

Ten years ago, actor Jesse Metcalfe made one of the best decisions of his career, accepting the lead in the Hallmark Channel movie Fairfield Road.  The move to Hallmark proved successful and afforded him the opportunity to appear in four more films for the network, which eventually led to a starring role on the hit series Chesapeake Shores for the last four years.  For his latest project, A Beautiful Place to Die: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery, the popular Hallmark fixture is switching gears, and channels (to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries), playing retired Boston police officer Jeff Jackson, whose dream of a quiet life fishing is derailed after he discovers the body of a mysterious visitor to the island floating in its waters.  The chance to sink his teeth into a gritty mystery/drama, become an executive producer for the network and explore a character he felt an affinity for, were all things Metcalfe said were too good to pass up.

Jesse Metcalfe

One of the busiest actors in Hollywood, Jesse Metcalfe is clearly among its most coveted stars. Most recently, Metcalfe was seen as the lead in the action-packed thriller Hard Kill opposite Bruce Willis, which released globally on August 25th. Metcalfe stars and executive produces the “Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries” movie franchise for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and also starred in Hallmark Channel’s “Christmas Under the Stars” opposite Autumn Reeser and Clark Peters in 2019.

In 2018, his presence drew audiences to two action films: the enjoyable Lionsgate thriller Escape Plan 2: Hades with Sylvester Stallone, and the horror flick The Ninth Passenger. As an actor and producer, Metcalfe currently has two other projects in the pipeline, the family drama In Stranger Company alongside Danny Trejo and the forthcoming New York City drama Steps.

Metcalfe recently reprised his role as a gritty investigative reporter turned zombie-apocalypse vigilante in Dead Rising: Endgame, the sequel to the 2015 cult classic Dead Rising: Watchtower. He previously starred in the indie film Destined and the critically acclaimed God’s Not Dead 2. In 2006, Metcalfe showcased his comedy chops as the title character in the 20th Century Fox feature John Tucker Must Die. The film, which stars Sophia Bush, Brittany Snow and Ashanti, follows three friends who set out to break the heart of a serial cheater by setting him up with the new girl in town. His other film roles include Insanitarium, The Other End of the Line, The Tortured and Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, opposite Michael Douglas.

A ubiquitous presence on television, Metcalfe has starred (and contributed original songs) as former country star Trace Riley on the popular Hallmark Channel family drama series “Chesapeake Shores.” He has portrayed a bachelor who learns to love Christmas on the network’s original holiday movie “Christmas Next Door” and a country music sensation on its romantic drama “A Country Wedding.” Garnering fan acclaim for his role as Christopher Ewing on the TNT reboot of “Dallas,” he also starred in NBC’s limited-series “Chase” and the hit NBC soap opera “Passions,” his first television role. Metcalfe is well-remembered for his breakout role as forbidden teen lover John Rowland opposite Eva Longoria on the Golden Globe-winning ABC series “Desperate Housewives.” He earned a Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Breakout Performance-Male and shared a SAG Award for Best Television Comedy Ensemble.

Born in California and raised in Waterford, Connecticut, Metcalfe played in several basketball leagues in his youth. He studied acting at NYU at the famed Tisch School of the Arts, all the while being a music lover and an accomplished guitarist and pianist. He is a fan of classic cars, motorbikes and is an avid poker player. He is also active in several charities including North Texas Food Bank, The Go Campaign, Weingart Foundation and UNICEF.

If I know what love is.... 💘 New Hallmark Movie 💘Best Hallmark 2021

The latest installment of the Hallmark movie series “Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries” premiered on Sunday, May 17. The latest film, called “Poisoned In Paradise“, is the fourth movie in the series, and some fans are already wondering if there will be a fifth.

The star of the “Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries” is Jesse Metcalfe, of “A Country Wedding” and “Chesapeake Shores.” Hallmark recently announced in a statement to Deadline that Metcalfe’s time on “Chesapeake Shores” is over and he will not be returning after season five. Metcalfe briefly commented on his exit in an Instagram story. “It’s with a heavy heart that me and Trace will be saying goodbye to Chesapeake Shores,” he said, referencing his character, Trace Riley.

For fans concerned that Metcalfe might be taking a step back from Hallmark altogether, this certainly isn’t the case. In the Deadline statement, Hallmark Channel said they look forward to working with Metcalfe on other projects and confirmed that there will be a sixth “Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries” film featuring him. “We are currently in development on another movie in the series,” the statement read.

This article will have SPOILERS for “Poisoned in Paradise”, the fifth “Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries” film.

The Latest “Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries” Left Some Things Unresolved

In a teaser for the film shared to Metcalfe’s Instagram page, he described it as “the best installment of the ‘Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries‘ yet.” Although “Poisoned in Paradise” ended with the bad guy in handcuffs, not everything in the film was brought to a satisfying conclusion. Metcalfe‘s character Jeff Jackson, a retired Boston detective, is still trying to move on from his past. In the film, Metcalfe gets closer to finding out who shot him in Boston but ultimately doesn’t uncover the truth.

Jeff’s baggage doesn’t just keep him from living a peaceful life on the island, it also affects his relationship with the kind Dr. Zee Madeiras, played by Sarah Lind. Jeff and Zee make progress in the film, enjoying a ride on Jeff’s dad’s restored boat and having dinners together. But the movie ends with Zee asking Jeff if they can take their relationship slow. She doesn’t want to get hurt again and he needs to set the past to rest.

Perhaps the sixth film will finally tie up some of the loose ends in Jeff’s life. Although it’s doubtful he’ll get that quiet island life he was looking for.

What Other Projects Is Metcalfe Working On?

Now that Metcalfe will no longer be a regular on “Chesapeake Shores“, he’ll have more time for other acting projects. According to his IMDb page, he currently has two films in the works. One of his upcoming films, “The Latin in Manhattan,” stars Drea de Matteo of “The Sopranos.” The movie is set in Times Square in the ’70s and ’80s and tells the true story of the adult film star, Vanessa Del Rio.

Metcalfe is also starring in the upcoming trilogy “The Fortress” alongside Bruce Willis and fellow Hallmark actor, Chad Michael Murray. According to Deadline, production for the first film began in Puerto Rico on May 3. Metcalfe will play Willis’s son.
