Would you like to know what the future holds in store for you? Put on your Oculus Rift or HTC Vive headset and take part in a first-of-its-kind VR experience: Kismet. Developed by award-winning creative studio Psyop, Kismet is a collection of three activities, including a past-present-future Tarot Card reading (“The Cards”), daily Astrology session (“The Stars”), and ancient boardgame Ur (“A Game of Wit”).
Powered by a deck of 22 hand-painted Tarot cards and an accurate real-time map of the solar system, Kismet is meant to be experienced daily, with unique outcomes every calendar day that are directly tied to not only the cards that you choose, but your individual birth date and the actual alignment of celestial bodies at the time of your reading. Seated across a table from an enchanted automaton with the power to look into the future, you’ll be transported to a place where magic is real. Named after the mysterious character at its core, Kismet is inspired by the mystic arts of tarot and astrology, brought to life in a beautifully detailed, handmade, Gothic style.
- KismetTime for a long-distance family game night? Our list of the best VR board games on Oculus Quest and other headsets will have what you’re looking for.
VR is often great at putting us ‘inside’ the experience. Sometimes, though, we don’t need a game to be more immersive, we just need the ability to play it with people from a distance. That’s what makes the medium so perfect for board games – players are no longer restricted by the physical aspects of that experience. You can all have a very realistic online experience as if you’re all gathered in the same place. This list of the best VR board games highlights those experiences.
Note that all the experiences we’re listing for Quest can be found on the Oculus Store and, where noted, you can find games on SteamVR, Oculus Rift, and PSVR too.
Best VR Board Games On Oculus Quest
Demeo – Also available on SteamVR
Demeo is perhaps stretching the term board game a little thin – it’s more like an XCOM-style turn-based strategy game than it is your traditional experience. But it nails the theme of tabletop game, with dice throws to determine attacks, cards to activate special abilities and characters appearing like figures with bases. The game itself is incredibly engaging and can be played with up to four players, making for one of the best social VR experiences you’ll find today. If you want to know more, read our full review.
Catan – Also available on PSVR, SteamVR and Oculus Rift
The classic strategy game was actually one of the first to make a full conversion to VR. In the game, you try and grow your settlements in a race against other players by trading and buying resources. The VR version lets four players go head-to-head with a fully digital and animated experience. Plus, Catan has extensive cross-play so you can play with people on other headsets dating right the way back to the Gear VR.
Tsuro – Also available on SteamVR
Tsuro is perhaps a little simpler an experience than other VR board games on this list, but that’s kind of the point. Players place tiles to make paths for stones, trying to lead opponents off the board or into each other whilst swerving their stone to safety. This is meant to be a more relaxing game than our other entries, but it can still be enjoyed in multiplayer.
Pokerstars VR – Also available on SteamVR
Okay so, no, Poker isn’t really a board game as such, but it’s still a classic card game you can play at home, so it makes the cut. The Pokerstars VR team has been consistently adding to its virtual experience over the past few years to make it one of the most robust card simulations in all of VR. Full online play with virtual avatars put a spin on Poker like you’ve never seen before.
Best VR Board Games – Other Headsets
Tabletop Simulator on SteamVR
You can’t have a list of the best VR board games without mentioning what is most likely the ultimate board game simulator on the market – Tabletop Simulator. Also available for flat screens, this incredible playground gives you the pieces to play many classic games, but its physics-driven world lets you play by your own rules. That results in bizarre and often hilarious situations just like those you can have in real life. Plus an extensive list of add-ons brings popular games like Zombies!! into VR too.
That’s our list of the best VR board games on Oculus Quest and beyond. Did we miss anything you’re a fan of? Let us know in the comments below!

Oculus Quest Is Getting A "Social VR Board Game" Later This Fall
Board game night is making a comeback... in virtual reality. Evernever Games has announced Wednesday that they are bringing a social VR board game called Neverboard to Oculus Quest this fall.
Neverboard is the first free-to-play social VR board game that brings together friends and family on the Oculus Quest platform from wherever they are, whether they're all sitting in the same living room or in their separate homes. It combines the fun of classic tabletop board games like UNO and Monopoly with the immersion of virtual reality without the real-world hassle of setting up the games and cleaning up the room once you're done. If you take a look at the trailer below, the game looks like The Sims on acid.

Neverboard will launch with the full version of Crazy 8s readily available to download to your game library for free. Three easy-to-pick-up 2-4 player games will be available to buy for an undetermined price, with more titles on the way. In addition to playing games, you can explore concessions to share with your friends and family members in attendance, like pizza, soda, and even tomatoes.
Evernever Games is an alumni of the Oculus Launchpad program that built Neverboard from the ground up to spark real connections with the people closest to us in a delightful new way. Neverboard was created to provide a comfortable atmosphere in VR, serving as both a venue to host games and as a social space for up to four friends. Creator Jasmine Bulin said Neverboard is a great VR game for people to spend time together while apart, especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are excited to see players finding the joy in being with others in VR during a time when being together while apart is more important than ever," said Neverboard creator Jasmine Bulin, “So many board games have this amazing power to enrich friendships and VR enhances the magic of the shared activity by allowing friends to play together anywhere and at any time. With Neverboard, friends around the globe can finally get game night back on the calendar.”
Neverboard is available to wishlist now, and will be supported on Oculus Quest and Quest 2. If you have any questions about what games will be released into Neverboard, you can join the game's Discord channel.

Boardgames are great in virtual reality (VR) with the likes of Catan VRand Demeoprime examples of that fact. Today, Oculus Launchpad alumni Evernever Games has announced its entry into the space, a colourful, free-to-play experience called Neverboard; set to arrive later this year.

Designed as a social board gaming experience for 2 – 4 players, Neverboard is all about reigniting that classic gaming night with friends; just in VR. As a free-to-play title, Neverboard will come with one free game to get players started, Crazy 8s, with a further three games to purchase if you so wish. These will include classics like chess but Evernever Games hasn’t revealed how much each additional game will retail for. However, it will run a demo service where you can try before you buy.
Additional content costs in-game currency which is available free each day and to purchase in the in-game store. Once the launch has taken place the studio will release regular updates adding new games, features, and content.
Neverboard isn’t purely about the games either. Friends can hang out together, chat and just socialise if they want between games. Or explore some of the available concessions like pizzas or tomatoes, always great for starting a food fight.
