Hope this helps, you have a off road, and on road pattern, quite tricky to drive, the NSW army S-lines have this box fitted from factory.

Howdy,

This link will get you to a site with a heap of info on the spicer box's.
There is 14 & 20 speed info here. Explains the differance in the offroad / onroad shift pattern as the coal shifter mentioned.

Congratulations to BLB regular Keone Kele for being the first out of the traps with an unusual manual truck gearshift pattern story for Biglorryblog—and it’s of a Spicer. “Here’s the guide for driving an 18-Speed shift pattern Spicer PRO-SHIFT Hopefully this isn’t much of a confusion as I was trying to figure out how to do the pattern myself. Enjoy! Aloha from Maui Keone.” And click through here for the driver guide..

Spicerguide1.JPG

I’ve saved these in ‘Expando-Vision’ but had to do a screen-grab from the pdf…but they should blow up OK.

spicershift2.JPG

And click on this YouTube clip for a video of an Aussie driver with a 16-speed Spicer in his Kenworth who has really got it 100% nailed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJC47912E_4

What’s interesting for me is that the splits appear to work without dipping the clutch (as you would with something like a ZF Ecosplit)..anyroadup when are we going to get some unusual shift patterns for Fullers or Macks?

We hope you enjoyed this article! For more news, views and reviews on all aspects of the truck driver’s life subscribe today.

DefaultA 21-speed tranny?

An old salt driver the other day told me he drove a 21-speed tranny in a truck at one time. I've heard of 18-speeds but never 21. Is there (or was there) such a thing? 8)

Maybe he was talking about a Spicer 6 X 4 twin stick.

There was a Spicer 21 in the late 60's and early 70's Mainly used in large construction rigs. I drove for Shaffer then (When Domer Shaffer actually owned it) and drove a purple Pete' with one. It was a construction rig glidered to do OTR. (Ugly thing was called the Grape Ape) It was matched with a v-12 Detroit and used more oil that it did fuel. It was a 5X4 with a low-low hole for construction.
Never did figure out how fast it ran but I do know that statie outside of Waco though there was something wrong with his car as it took him so long to catch me.

That Detroit V12 could Haul-Drove one for a few months-Didn't have to worry about Oil changes because you were doing it automatically while on the Road :P

Didn't the older Macks have a five speed or such shift pattern but to change ranges i.e. low, direct, overdrive and reverse all you did was move the selector knob that was on top of the stick?

Spicer made some transmissions like that. They made "non-repeating" 14, 16 and 18 speed transmissions. In fact, they still do for foreign markets.

I remember the Low-Direct-and Overdrive selector on the Side of the Knob but don't remember a Reverse on it.

How to Shift an 18 Speed Transmission Like a Boss

Her hair and lips and hands drew him like a magnet. He came up. And you bend over, Esther said, tearing herself away from the guy in a particularly low voice. - Do not be afraid. Her head lay between the guy's legs and to bend over to her, he would have to lie on top of him.

We approached from the other side of the bushes and heard soft drawn-out sighs. Nyura shuddered and I noticed how her hips squeezed. - Boys, wait a minute, - said Nyura and bending down a little, quietly parted the bushes.

He took a butt plug out of her. More of the one that plugged the ass during the enema. I took my chair and arranged it so that it was comfortable.
