Plants vs zombies party games

Plants vs zombies party games DEFAULT

It's been zombies in my head for the last several weeks. I decided to let Conor have his first "friends" party for his birthday this year and he asked for a Plants vs. Zombies theme (which, if you don't know, is a wildly popular video game.)

Once I started searching for ideas, I got a little crazy in the details. I wanted everything to be memorable for him and I wanted his friends to have a great time.

I had some zombie images blown up and printed for decoration.

And I found this perfect sign for the front door.

Thanks to Etsy, I was able to get ready-made digital images that I had printed at Kinko's. Then I just had to spend several hours cutting and glueing.

I struggled with the cake. I had a different vision initially, but things just weren't working out, so I had to revamp and go with a simpler idea. I made the figures from gum paste a few days before, did the fondant work the night before the party, and then assembled everything that morning. There was just no way I could make a fondant zombie, so to get around it and yet still have the zombie touch on the cake, I just went for a hand reaching out of the ground. Much easier.

For decorations I bought a set of small traffic cones.

Our first game as guests arrived was Zombie Bingo. The kids loved it.

Then we played Musical Zombie Chairs. We had downloaded the Plants vs. Zombies theme song onto a CD and we played that while the kids had to walk around the chairs zombie-style.

Then we played Zombie Bowling.

Everyone thinks it's going to be so easy, but it's not! We gave each child three tennis balls to try and knock all the cans down. Only one child got them all down with the first ball, and only two were able to get them all down with three balls. They loved this game!

Next up was Pin the Eye on the Zombie.

(I got this guy a little too dizzy!)

I ordered five of these zombie stuffed toys from China (cheap!) to use as first prizes for each of the games. The kids loved that!

Then I had a terra cotta pot filled with smaller action figure type zombies that served as second and third prizes.

The last game was a Zombie Shooting game. I printed out images of zombie heads and laminated them and hung bells from the bottoms. Aiden built the frame for me and spray painted it.

He also built me all the marshmallow shooters. (Love that boy!)

This was an outside game. The kids got ten marshmallows chances to hit the zombies.

Then it was inside for food. I had the party from 2-4pm, so I didn't need to serve lunch. But I had snacks, which the kids actually munched on throughout the whole party. We had a little "brain snack" after a few of the games and the little zombies ate their jello brain.

Plants for the little zombies!

And then it was cake time!

I can't believe this boy is turning 8!

I made one of the traffic cones into a party hat for Conor (and clipped a tie on him like a zombie too, which you can't see here).

And then they demolished my hard work!

Cards and gifts at the end.

And before they went home, they each got a party favor. I wrapped candy bars with these cute wrappers (Etsy again!)

and put them inside flower pots along with a pack of trading cards, bubbles, and a pack of sunflower seeds to grow in their pots. There were supposed to be eyeball gum balls too, but something happened to my order. Oh well, nobody knew. And hopefully parents were happy that the kids didn't come home laden with sugar.

Conor was incredibly thrilled with the way his party turned out. Parents have been telling me how much fun all the kids had. All of the games were a success. The kids would always ask to play them again when we finished. It was a ton of work getting everything ready, but all worth it!

Plants Vs Zombies Party Ideas & Printables

My kids have a tradition of choosing party themes that make it impossible to buy supplies from a store. Weeks before any birthday are spent hand making decorations and goodies. Last year it was Minecraft party bags and Minecraft marshmallow pops. This year it was a Plants Vs Zombies party. This was one of my favorites – the decorations, food and activities were a lot of fun to come up with. Aiden and his friends loved every last bit of it, so the work that went in to making everything was completely worth it. I made a lot of printables for this particular party, and you can grab them for yourself at the bottom of this post!

Plants vs Zombies Party Ideas & Printables

We started with decorations. I came across these giant sunflowers in a few different sizes and created some sunflower face printables to hot glue to them. Then I bought some terra cotta clay pots and Styrofoam. I cut the Styrofoam to fit into the pot and pushed the flower stems through the center, then I covered it up with kraft crinkle paper. If the flowers are very tall you may need to weigh the pots down. I used some small weights I had laying around, but rocks or any other heavy object small enough to fit inside the pot would work.

I filled the house with these zombie balloons, which were a huge hit and really set the tone for the party. All you need is a bunch of red balloons, a sharpie, hole punch and these printable zombies from Pinwheels And Pompoms. Print and cut the zombies out (this is a little time consuming so plant to do it a day or so ahead of time). Once you have your balloons use the sharpie to draw these faces on, punch a hole in the zombie’s shirt and pull the balloon string through! I used standard cardstock and it didn’t weigh the balloons down at all. The only issue I ran into was realizing that the sharpie can rub off of the balloons and onto kids hands, faces, clothes and furniture. Once the balloons start to deflate you’ll probably want to toss them before the kids start throwing them around.

When our guests walked in they were greeted by a zombie station stocked with gross zombie teeth, construction cone party hats and Hypno Shroom Extract glow sticks. For the hats I just purchased small sport cones and tied elastic to them. You can grab the printable Hypno Shroom Extract signs below.

The candy bar was stocked with plenty of plants vs zombies goodies too!

Everyone’s favorite were these zombie marshmallow pops.

They were easy to make, just dip marshmallows in candy coating, I used Wilton Vibrant Green Candy Melts to get this color, and allow them to dry. Then use the same color to affix candy eyes. To make the facial features I melted some dark chocolate and used a toothpick to draw them on. I cut the ties from construction paper and clued them to the sticks. Once I had them set up they reminded me of a final wave of zombies, so I printed out a final wave image to place in front.

The Peashooter Peas were green sixlets.

These sunflower seeds were also part of the party bags, but the adults enjoyed having some to snack on during the party. I created printable toppers to staple on each bag. Just print, fold and staple for a cute snack or party favor!

I filled a bowl with twin cherry gummies for the Cherry Bombs.

Everyone loved these construction cone rice krispie treats. My 8 year old made these, so this is a great way to get the kids involved in party prep. We just made rice krispie treats according to the directions on the cereal box, dyed them with Wilton Orange Decorating Dye (add the dye to the melted marshmallows before adding in the cereal), allowed them to cool slightly, coated our hands with vegetable oil and shaped these cones. Once they are dry add lollipop sticks to them.

I also made these little chocolates from this Plants Vs Zombies silicone mold.

To keep the kids entertained we had a few activities planned. Unfortunately I didn’t get great photos because I was so busy organizing kids, but our first activity was to get the kids outside to plant their own flowers. I purchased pansies from a garden supply store, some soil, a few beach buckets, foam stickers and small terra cotta pots. The kids wrote their names on popsicle sticks so that they would be able to identify their flowers later on, then decorated their pots with foam stickers. Everyone got to pick a pansy for their pot, then filled it the rest of the way with soil. We had a lot of fun and the kids were excited to have their flowers to take home at the end of the day.

Later on we played Plants Vs Zombies bowling, something else I didn’t get photos of!

Once dessert time rolled around we opened up the candy bar and served this amazing (and giant!) Dirt Cake, made by lovely cousin. She put the entire thing into a food safe bucket and served it with a scoop into little plastic flower cups. It looked just like a big scoop of mud and the kids loved it!

Plants vs Zombies Party Ideas & Printables

The cake was ordered from a local baker who made this enormous, delicious cake.

For party bags I used green kraft bags and tied small metal gardening themed tags to them. I filled them with packages of sunflower seeds, candy and a grow your own brain plant kit to stick with the theme.

Our plants vs zombies party was a huge hit – I’m almost hoping one of the other boys asks for one this year because this was so much fun to put together! What party theme have you really loved putting together?

PVZ supplies fb

I do remember the phone ap game PVZ several years ago.  A few months back my 8 year old said he needed to the Garden Warfare game for the PS4. All of his friends play this game. I guess it has come back into popularity.  I searched for PVZ party supplies and there are none. So this guide will help anyone trying to put a PVZ theme party together.  I have complied ideas from Pinterest and created some of my own. Let me know if you have any questions or other suggestions.

PARTY HATS: There are zombies wearing construction hats and pirate hats.  You can also look for army hats.

CONCLUSION: There are no Plants Vs Zombies party supplies out there so you need to be a bit creative. There is a big construction theme in the game so most construction theme party supplies will work. Also my son said that gnomes are very important so if you find some cheap little gnome figures they would be great favors or party decorations. You can also check out the Pinterest board I made for this theme for more ideas. Also you can find some of these products in out store. Click here to visit store.

Plants vs Zombies HD mini GAMES Pogo Party

I love making my kids' birthday cakes. Princess, castle, edible butterflies, jungle animals, cars have all been past birthday cakes. This year my "baby" turned 7! Seems like just yesterday he was a toddler trying to keep up with his big sister.Today, he is truly his own person with a huge personality. He's very sweet with a sensitive side that he sometimes tries to hide and has a streak of devilishness. Lucky for him,  his amazing smile, charming personality and twinkle in his eye lets him get away with a lot (except from his sister who doesn't let him get away with anything!)

This year he chose a "Plants vs Zombie"(PvZ) party theme. I thought finding PvZ party items would be easy given the computer game is sooooo popular - boy was I wrong! Nothing, nada, rien. No party games, no party plates, no banners, no loot bags with PvZ on them. They do have their own shop. I ordered some Plants vs Zombies trading cards for the loot bags, a plastic disco figurine and t-shirt for my son's presents.

Games

I printed off some PvZ colouring sheets (see end for link) that the kids enjoyed as a way to keep them occupied as everyone arrived. For a party games I made my own "Pin the Eye on the Zombie" game. To make it I used a Zombie head from the internet and then used photoshop to cut out the eye on the Zombie. Finally I printed the "eye" so the kids could pin them on the Zombie. It was a hit - the kids loved it.

We also played musical Zombie chairs. This is the same as the classic musical game but the kids had to walk around like Zombies.

The final game was "What time is it, Mr. Zombie?" - just like "What time is it, Mr Fox?" The kids each had a turn being the lead Zombie. Mr. Zombie starts out at one end of the room with his back to the kids. One of the kids at the other end then yells out “What time is it, Mr. Zombie?” Mr. Zombie then calls out a time that is on the even hour (1 o'clock - 12 o'clock). The kids take that many steps. When the group gets to where the Zombie is, but not past him, and asks the time, the Zombie can yell "Midnight!" He then turns and chases the kids back. Then a new Zombie is picked.

Drinks

We had subway to eat but I had big pitchers of kool-aid in green and blue that we labelled "plant" and "zombie" juice.

Also, in the loot bags I included, in addition to the trading cards, a packet of sunflower seeds for them to plant, a little solar powered sunflower toy that moves its leaves, and some mini m&ms. All of the items were put in a medium sized terracotta pot so that the kids could plant the sunflowers at home - I forgot to take a picture of them!

Decorations

For decorations I searched for some high res Zombie images to print as 3 ft images. I used Picasa so I could print them as "posters" on my computer and save the cost of printing at a professional printing store. The poster function lets you print one image over many sheets of paper depending on how big you want it. Once printed you just piece them together like a puzzle.

I printed out some "plants" that we also posted on foam board. My daughter labelled them so anyone without PvZ knowledge would know who they were.

The Cake

The cake took me a month. Well, not the cake but the figurines which are crafted out of fondant. I started them early so they could dry out and be easily placed on the cake. I'm not a professional cake decorator, I am not an artist and I'm not fast. I checked out many PvZ cakes on the internet - there are amazingly talented cake makers out there! See end of post for links.

My son, however, had the final say on whether each figurine was "cake worthy". Many did not make the grade! Trust me, it was stressful! The house does not have a back wall. I had planned making it but I ran out of time and space on the cake board! In the end no one seemed to notice or care.

The cake was vanilla with chocolate chips and little colored candies inside. The icing was just my go to vanilla buttercreamwhich I dyed in two colors of green. The cake was a serious hit. Kids and adults thought it was pretty amazing. Most importantly my son thought it was great!

Now I have a little break before my daughter starts planning her birthday party in the summer!

The Photos

Please forgive me for posting so many pictures - but a month of work deserves a bit of self indulgence :)

Cone head Zombie meets his end.

The harder to kill Bucket Head Zombie.

Lawn mowers are the last line of defense before the Zombies eat your brainz.

Chomper, sunflower, cactus, potato mine, jalapeno, pea shooter, snow pea, cabbage-pult,
wall-nut, Tall nut,  and Torchwood are ready to stand their ground!

Maybe they should run!

This is what Lauren said about planning/stlying the party-

“When my son told me he wanted his birthday party theme to be like his favorite video game I jumped at the chance. I love the doing challenging themes and there wasnt much of anything out there for Plant vs Zombie lovers! One of my favorite details this year was all of the hand drawn yard decor. My mother actually drew them all for the birthday boys big day! There are way too many details to list but this was one of my favorite parties to date.

But Dima did not notice this, since he himself was doing the same. After such a session, we still met, took a beer, and the state of health. Began to go on the mend. He asked why, in order to take a walk, I called him, and not my Olya.
