Ford F250 Super Duty
As one of America's best-selling trucks, the F-Series are known to be built tough. The Ford Super Duty trucks are built even tougher. They're built to last. They are larger and built with more powerful engines, with heavier-duty transmissions, brakes, springs, axles, etc. They are built on stronger frames so that they can hold up to the conditions that they are put in. The Ford F-250 Super Duty is designed to be a serious workhorse. From its introduction onto the commercial and industrial truck market, the F-250 Super Duty has and continues to remain a dependable and rugged option for towing, hauling and similar duties.
The first generation was sold from 1999 to 2007. While these trucks were still a part of the F-Series, they were in no part similar in style. These Super Duty trucks had taken a whole new design of their own. Under the hood, they shared the 5.4-liter V-8 engine and 6.8-liter V-10 engine, though other engine options would be added, such as the 7.3 and 6.0 Power Stroke engines in 1999-2000 and 2003, respectively, which offered more horsepower and torque. On the outside, the exterior had a raised hood and the body was much more angular. The grille was taller, yet narrower, and there were front tow hooks added.
Selling from 2008 to 2010, the second generation of F-250 Super Duty trucks were equipped with a brand new 6.4-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8 engine that replaced the 6.0-liter Power Stroke. As for gasoline engines, it is the same 5.4-liter V-8 as well as the 6.8-liter V-10 from the first generation. This generation contains an optional - and completely concealed - step, which slides out, and grab bar, which swings up, that is located near the tailgate. In 2010, the models include the XL, XLT, Lariat, Cabela's, King Ranch and Harley Davidson.
The third generation F-250 Super Duty trucks sold from 2011 through 2016. These trucks received a huge exterior update that included a bigger and better front fascia, in addition to a better-performing engine that could compete with other top-of-the-line trucks, like the Ram HD and Silverado HD. In 2011, The F-Series Super Duty received the "Topline Pulling Power" awarded from Truckin as well as the "Best Workhorse" and best "Gear of the Year," both awarded from Popular Mechanic. This generation comes in the same trim levels as the second generation except the Cabela's and Harley Davidson have been excluded and replaced with Platinum. The 2011 F-250 has a locking differential, which is unique for this truck. In addition, the gas and diesel F-250 Super Duty trucks are all reliant on vacuum-boost brakes. As an upgrade on both the front and rear axles, the 2015-2016 model F-250 Super Duty trucks are equipped with 14.29-inch vented disc brakes. Diesels received an upgraded engine with a 6.7-liter PowerStroke V-8, which could produce between 400 and 440 horsepower, and gas Super Duty trucks got one upgrade with a 385-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8.

As a heavy-duty pickup truck, it is not easy to keep Ford F-250 Super Duty in handle. Not to mention if some problems are with it. Some drivers who have driven it for many times have provided some common problems they have encountered as follows:
First, death wobble or hyper shaking to lose control. It becomes harder for driver to control the F-250 Super Duty if it keeps shaking. Drivers complained that the car would tilt to one side as well as bounce or bottom out while driving. At the same time, intense vibrations can be felt through the steering wheel, which has become loose to deteriorate the handling ability. Maybe some clunking or rattling sounds would give out as well. Based on their account, it can be assumed the suspension system has gone wrong. Coil springs, drive shaft and sway bar bracket need a thorough inspection.
Second, transmission failure. According to F-250 Super Duty drivers, they found the indicator cable did not match the gear they were in. Either the vehicle started in another gear or won't go into gear at all. Furthermore, they had difficulty in shifting gears as well. Grinding noises kept come from underneath the vehicle as well as vehicle cannot be turned off. Transfer case, transfer case seal and shift cable may be the culprits of above symptoms.

Ford 1999-2003 Powerstroke 7.3L Parts & Accessories
In 1999 Ford made some major changes to their truck lineup and to the 7.3L Powerstroke engine. This would be the first year Ford refers to their F-250/350/450 pickup trucks as the Super-Duty lineup with new body styles, transmission options, and more upgrades to enhance durability and performance. When Ford announced their Super-Duty lineup the demand for these trucks skyrocketed. In 2002 the 2,000,000th 7.3L Powerstroke-equipped Ford pickup truck came off the assembly line. The 7.3L Powerstroke has become one of the most sought-after diesel engines in a pickup for its reputation of durability and longevity.
In 1999, Ford added an intercooler to the 7.3L Powerstroke, to cool the compressed air from the turbo, creating denser air to support a more efficient combustion process. This air-to-air intercooler increased the horsepower of the engine while also reducing exhaust gas temperatures (EGT). For the 1999-2003 models, Ford improved the fuel lift pump by converting the cam-driven mechanical pump to an electric pump to provide better fuel system performance. Another enhancement to the 7.3L Powerstroke was the upgraded Garrett turbocharger. The early 1994-1997 model years used a Garret TP38, and the 1999-2003 models used the Garrett GTP38 which featured a wastegate to help reduce emissions. Higher flowing 140cc injectors split-shot fuel injectors were larger than the 120cc injectors used on the previous generation 7.3L Powerstroke. New automatic and manual transmissions were also introduced for the Super-Duty lineup. The transmission options available were the new 4R110 Automatic and the ZF S6-650 6-Speed Manual Transmission.
With these performance improvements the power levels of the 7.3L Powerstroke significantly improved. Horsepower increased from 201 hp to 275 hp and torque increased from 425 lb-ft to 525 lb-ft. These late model trucks also included a 17° swash plate High Pressure Oil Pump to provide an increased oil volume. The addition of a larger swash-plate-style pump makes adding high performance modifications to the 1999-2003 7.3L Powerstroke engine easier. After the production of the 2003 model year trucks, Ford discontinued the 7.3L Powerstroke engine due to stricter emission standards. Even though Ford no longer manufactures the 7.3L Powerstroke, XDP still continues to support it with all the parts you need from hundreds of the top manufacturers. From routine maintenance components to performance upgrades XDP has what your truck needs, including Fuel Filters, High Pressure Oil Pumps, Turbo Kits, Programmers, Suspension Parts and much more!
