Shootin' it straight - Palmetto State Armory streamlines with NetSuite
Download case study
The founders of Palmetto State Armory had a passion for firearms, tactical gear and the great outdoors. Started as an ammunition and magazine website, Palmetto has grown into a full-service company with the website, multiple retail locations and its own personalized firearms brand.
Palmetto State Armory reached out to RSM when their existing systems were unable to keep up with the company’s rapid growth. They used SAP for core accounting, financial, inventory and warehouse management needs, and Google Docs for inventory tracking. Palmetto wanted to reduce the number of systems into a single platform that was scalable, cloud-based and cost-effective. Palmetto’s multiple tracking and reporting systems could not handle the company’s rapid growth, resulting in a backlog of website orders, which in turn was creating data issues with the warehouse management system. Additionally, their accounting department could not run financials without having an impact on the performance of the system for the rest of the company. Even with limited functionality, the reporting system could take hours to complete a single report.
SAP relied on an integration to report sales transactions from each store in batches. The integration was prone to delay and error, and often not synchronized. Management’s lack of visibility into how each store was operating resulted in inaccurate information and complicated planning and decisionmaking.
Palmetto turned to RSM to purchase NetSuite and assist the organization in implementing the Mid-Market Edition with several additional modules to address the issues. One of the critical modules was NetSuite’s Financial Management, a key interest for Palmetto. With budgeting and automated expense allocation, NetSuite’s Financial Management provided budgeting, expense management, flexible billing and statistical account functionality that Palmetto lacked. The company now has clear real-time visibility into budgets, spends less time on manual billing processes, and can calculate allocations dynamically using statistical accounts.
Under budget and on time, RSM successfully transitioned Palmetto onto NetSuite to run their primary financials, inventory management and more. The new capabilities have improved Palmetto’s reporting capabilities and streamlined the repair process in NetSuite. NetSuite doesn’t hinder their daily operations, and the daily transaction volume limit is much higher. With greater visibility, the accounting and warehouse departments can both see the same data and have a real-time read on inventory. Buyers are able to view accurate information in NetSuite, allowing them to make better purchasing decisions. This gives Palmetto greater visibility into their inventory, reducing the amount of supplies needed on hand to support their customer sales demand.
They said it
“RSM helped our organization move from several disparate and manual systems to everything under one roof and streamlined with NetSuite. This implementation has eased several core processes for the company, and RSM provided the accessible model we needed. It is with great appreciation for their skills and flexibility that we recommend RSM.” — Bob Bell, Business Systems and Applications Director, Palmetto State Armory
If it would be negative stars I would…
If it would be negative stars I would have giving it to them. I ordered ammo on October 4th, 2021, got an email on October 5th, the next day I placed the order letting me know that my order was shipped. As of today , October 18, 2021 I do not have my order. Looking at the UPS website using the tracking number provided I see that the label was printed, but there was no pickup scheduled. I sent two emails, which you have to do from the company's website, but I never got any response other than the automated response, which does not tell you anything other than someone will respond to your request with 24 to 48 hours, which in my case never happened. Today, October 18th, 2021 was my lucky day, I talked to someone on the phone and she said if I don't see anything new on the UPS website by tomorrow they will refund my money. That has yet to be seen. I should have looked into this company a bit more before I placed the order.
Pistol kit for AR 15 blew up in my…
Pistol kit for AR 15 blew up in my face. They tried blaming it on the lower manufacturer and I told then nothing is wrong with the lower why would I call the lower manufacturer. I finally sent the blown upper with the lodged round which was 223. They got it told me it was a 300 Blackout round that was stuck and therefore not covered under repair warranty. I know for a fact it was not a 300 Blackout but a 223 Remington and that's their way of squirming out of their warranty coverage...AGAIN. HORRIBLE!
I purchased a 10.5 blem carbine rifle
I purchased a 10.5 blem carbine rifle, at $559.99 plus tax and shipping..all together u paid 611.59,and of course plus transfer and fees, any way is my second rifle and I must say im impressed my quality overall, the only thing I see wrong the buffer does not have logo or buttstock as youtube videos..it should have their logo on it. I will be making a video for you tube,so I can show the good and bad of their products..but quite frankly is mostly good it will be nice if they will send me the buffer with their logo so I can do a complete video on you tube but overall im happy with my purchase...SO FAR.🙏🙏🙏🙏
I placed an order
I placed an order, was told it had shipped. Their Order/Tracking system did not work. I sent two emails never received a response. Tried to call, was on hold 40 minutes, never answered. Order finally arrived at FFL 14 days after SHIPPED EMAIL.
Horrible Customer Service
We ordered a mag for one of my hubby's firearms over a month ago. It came absolutely trashed.. looking like it had been run over by a truck-completely flat and wires hanging out of it . I took pictures and immediately used the contact/email feature on the website. I got a call a couple days later and was told that I had to wait for an email from the warehouse then reply to the email with the pictures of the damaged item received and THEN they would issue a refund. THAT was over a month ago. Never received an email from the warehouse...Never received another response to the multiple inquiries we've sent since and when trying to call -there's been up to 2 hours wait time on some days. Never anything less than an hour -my hubby and I both work and can't sit on the phone for that. So now what? we're out the $$ we spent? HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE-We will never shop with this site again.
NEVER BUY FROM PALMETTO STAT ARMORY
NEVER BUY FROM PALMETTO STATE ARMORY! I was a customer for many years, I will never buy from them again. I placed several orders over the past 2 weeks. One had 2 items, first item shipped in a few days, took 11 days to be delivered to my home. Second item $79.00 trigger, still hadn't shipped after 12 days. I found the item elsewhere and no longer needed that trigger. Called and waited on hold for about 45 minutes, got a customer service rep. Told me I could not cancel that item because the other item shipped which makes no sense whatsoever! After speaking in circles with this man for quite a while and being told I had not recourse other than waiting until they got around to shipping it, then returning it on my dime and paying a restocking fee, I asked to speak to his supervisor. He told me there was not supervisor and in the next breath told me he had spoken to the supervisor while I was on hold. I again asked to speak with him and was told he didn't have the ability to transfer me to anyone. I asked for the supervisor to come to his phone and speak with me, I was told I would not be speaking to anyone other than him!! He told me I was bound to their terms and conditions, I told him I would simply reverse the credit card charges. He then threatened me that my account would be blocked from further orders.... I said GREAT! I will never buy from you again anyway! Long story short a customer is worth less than $79.00, how much do you feel your business is worth??
First off I am not a PSA hater
First off I am not a PSA hater. I have now bought 3 gun kits from them. Quality shows in all their product. But as others have shown, communication is non existent. They recommended on the shipping page to use their version of my address. which I did. Only to find out later NO street address on the label? When I call to correct , well they want 17.50 to change the address. I said no way, told em I would just be taking Norton up on their offer it it didn't arrive! funny how when Norton advised me that the protection period was over, it arrived that day. My number 1 peeve, when you try to track the order with the number they give you, the systems tells you its the wrong info. I recommend just starting an account with them. That way you can go straight to your shipping info. Again business rises and falls on good customer service. If times were different , PSA would fall by the wayside.
Absolutely worst company in history in…
Absolutely worst company in history in terms of customer service. Impossible to get in contact with. Shipping is all out of whack in time frame. Ordered ar pistol.. couldn't get straight answer .. told would be 15 days to receive. I emailed saying if would take 15 to just cancel.. get an email saying ok return to sender done.. come to find out shipment was due very next day from that. Instead of confirming and checking to help customer out.. they just canceled it.. when finally got through was told sorry .. you said cancel.. will never purchase anything.. nothing.. no matter how good a deal. Shoot as bad as the chat went I wouldn't even accept a free gift from them .. won't support them at all.. stay away... reason why they only have such low ratings... I should've followed the suggestions from previous comments since they were all bad. Nothing worst than happily waiting for a firearm only to have them just screw you ...
Bought a recent upper for my dad s AR…
Bought a recent upper for my dad s AR and got an email saying it was shipped but I logged into my account there’s no details there’s no tracking number no no nothing all I got was an order number from an email I tried to call them they’re not taking calls due to Covid and high call valine which is 100% Load of crap people could be taking calls at home if that would be the case which is not abither place still using COVID as an excuse for terrible customer service place is using his excuses these days and I filled out multiple other customer platforms and have heard nothing back from them highly disappointing hopefully the other is in a total POS get back to Me And let me know what the tracking number is it’s not that hard. Seriously considering calling my credit card company and just canceling my order all together I thats how frustrated I am
I bought a new psa-ak47 rifle. The charging bolt is blemished. Also, I pistol grip on the ak is loose even after you tighten the screw. Spoke to someone with customer service and they stated I need to send pics of the rifle. I did so and haven’t heard anything back. Can’t get a response and no one picks up the customer service line.
There customer service is laughable
There customer service is laughable, they can’t help with even the simplest problems. I ordered a shotgun and an AR pistol, the shot gun was from a 3rd party provider or so I’m told. It was shipped the next day and was at my FFL 3 days later. The pistol is a mystery, they don’t know when it will be shipped, they don’t know if it’s actually in the warehouse because “ they don’t have the number to the warehouse “. Truly the most inept person I have ever spoken too, I told them to cancel the order on the pistol since it’s no where to be found but they can’t do that either because part of the order has already shipped. I called 4 times in 5 days and was hung up on twice after I talked about canceling the order.
I’ll never do business with these clowns again, ever !!
Customer service is non existent
Customer service is non existent. Cannot ever get through when you call they don’t answer emails. Ordered a barrel that shows in stock and website states up to five business days and it’s been longer than that and now I have to open a claim with my CC. Do business with your local shops and stop giving these guys money.

A Gunmaker Marketed Anti-Government Boogaloo Products. Then It Lobbied Congress.
Federal lobbying disclosuresreveal that Palmetto State Armory, a burgeoning South Carolina firearms manufacturer with a record of using rhetoric and imagery popular in anti-government circles, retained Washington, D.C., lobbyist Craig Metz of the firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough last December. The move came only months after the company began selling products emblazoned with imagery associated with the “boogaloo” — which is slang for a war to topple the federal government, something adherents prepare for, and in some cases seek to accelerate.
Palmetto State Armory was one of three dozen dealers of firearms, ammunition, and tactical supplies that an investigation by The Trace identified as using boogaloo-related rhetoric and imagery in their marketing and products. In February 2020, Palmetto produced and sold a limited edition AK-47-style pistol with a custom, “Big Igloo Aloha” Hawaiian-print paint job. The cheery floral pattern of the Hawaiian shirt is the unofficial uniform of pro-boogaloo accelerationists, and it frequently adorns irony-laden memes shared by supporters online. A month later, the company began offering T-shirts featuring a cartoon caricature of an armed, Hawaiian shirt-clad man guarding a pile of toilet paper rolls. The shirts are still available on its website, though the pistol is not.
Extremists with boogaloo ties participated in the deadly January 6 Capitol insurrection, as well as in multiple acts of political violence over the past year. “Boogaloo boys,” as they call themselves, were charged in the attempted kidnapping of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in October, 2020, as well as in multipleacts of domestic terrorism designed to sow chaos around last summer’s racial justice protests. Following the insurrection in Washington, D.C., the FBI warned of the potential for more boogaloo-related violence across the country.
Metz, the lobbyist, declined an interview request by email, and said that Nelson Mullins policy forbids him from discussing work for clients with the media. He did not respond to a specific request for comment on Palmetto State Armory’s use of anti-government imagery. It is unclear whether Metz or his associates at Nelson Mullins were already aware of the company’s tacit support of the extremist movement.
Jason Blazakis, the former director of the Counterterrorism, Finance, and Designations Office at the Department of State, who is now director of the Center on Terrorism, Extremism, and Coutnerterrorism at the Middlebury Institute said, “There’s a reputational risk for these companies.
“We’re in a society where we can’t look the other way where these kinds of things transpire, because it just emboldens individuals to continue down these really dangerous pathways,” he added. Blazakis also noted that, because of the lobbying, lawmakers may effectively “be providing some level of support to a company who is engaging in anti-government behavior.”
The lobbying disclosures, filed in December 2020 and January 2021, state that Metz was paid $10,000 in the final quarter of 2020 to lobby the U.S. Senate regarding the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ classifications of firearm accessories. Palmetto State Armory’s owners did not respond to requests for comment.
Palmetto State Armory, founded in 2008, has a long history of using controversial rhetoric. In 2011, the company was criticized for selling a limited run of AR-15 lower receivers — the crucial part of a gun that is considered a firearm under federal law — inscribed with “You Lie,” the words shouted by U.S. Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina at President Barack Obama during a 2009 congressional address. The company stopped selling the gun part several months later, following the shooting of U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords of Arizona and 18 others at a constituent meeting. Wilson thanked the company for halting sales, not disclosing that his son, Julian Wilson, is a co-owner of Palmetto State Armory and an executive at its parent company, JJE Capital.
In ensuing years, the company has continued to produce lower receivers inscribed with imagery and language associated with far-right memes, selling them on a section of their site called “meme lowers.” In December 2019, one month before the pro-gun Lobby Day protest that led to a declaration of a state of emergency in Virginia over fears of extremist violence, the company created and sold a “Virginia-15” lower. The design featured a reimagining of the Virginia state flag in which the Roman goddess Virtus holds a rifle and is wearing night-vision goggles — an accessory common in boogaloo memes circulating around the same time. According to an Instagram post, proceeds went to the Virginia Citizens Defense League, which organized the demonstration. The Virginia lowers recently reappeared on Palmetto State Armory’s website, and are currently available for sale.
Other clients represented by Metz include Comcast and the South Carolina branch of Blue Cross Blue Shield. In the wake of the January 6 insurrection, both companies halted political donations to members of Congress who refused to certify the 2020 presidential election results. Neither company responded to requests for comment and the contracts with Nelson Mullins make up a small fraction of their overall lobbying spending.
Recently, Palmetto State Armory has been expanding its business. The company announced plans to open a seventh retail location with an attached firing range in the former headquarters of the local South Carolina newspaper, The SunNews of Myrtle Beach. When one of the oldest and largest firearms manufacturers in the country, Remington, filed for bankruptcy last year, Palmetto State Armory’s parent company made a $65 million stalking-horse bid for its assets. Ultimately, it acquired five of Remington’s brands for $2.15 million, according to a Bloomberg Law report. The sale should help Palmetto State Armory increase its already ballooning manufacturing. According to the latest available ATF statistics, Palmetto State Armory increased its production by roughly 40 percent in 2019, so it reached 45,000 firearms and 275,000 “Miscellaneous firearms,” a class of accessories and parts, including lower receivers.

As soon as the pain passed, my head stopped buzzing, and the iridescent circles disappeared in my eyes, I got up again, but more slowly and more carefully. Opening my eyes again, I shuddered, as everything in front of me blurred and objects lost their normal outlines. -Yeah woke up well, good morning- An unknown voice rang out. -What is who, who are you, where am I and what is wrong with me- I asked in a tangled tongue.
-Where are you, I will tell you later, but first, grop your hand on the nightstands glasses and put them on- An unknown voice said.
