MOPAR® VEHICLE PROTECTION PLANS

Are Extended Warranties worth it?

For over three decades, Mopar® Vehicle Protection plans have proven to be the smart choice for our customers. FCA US LLC stands behind these plans with certified, factory-trained technicians and specialized service at dealerships throughout North America.

You may be wondering What is the best extended car warranty? You’ve came to the right place… Chrysler Warranty Direct offers extended warranties at whole costs. Our New Vehicle Protection Plans offer a variety of warranty options to give you the best protection in the industry.

We offer New and Pre-Owned Extended Warranty Coverage, to qualify for new your vehicle must be below the 36,000 miles and three year mark. Call for details on anything outside of those miles and years. Get your service contract at the absolute lowest cost with our wholesale prices!

Does Mopar offer lifetime coverage on Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram?

Lifetime warranty coverage was unlimited time and unlimited miles, recently Chrysler discovered that lifetime contract holders on average were keeping their vehicles seven years. These customers still needed the unlimited mile portion of the plan so they replaced it with five, six or seven years unlimited mile choices. This helps customers save money! So we still offer the same great Maximum Care coverage (Bumper to Bumper) but now with a year max.

The New Added Care Plus Protection Plans are a little more affordable without all the bells and whistles. Most importantly our plans are very customized to your needs and budget. Added Care Plus from Mopar Vehicle Protection offers great protection by extending Powertrain and basic component coverage. Even when your vehicle is covered by a 3-Year or 36,000 Mile Basic Warranty or 5-Year or 100,000-Mile Powertrain Warranty, Added Care Plus extends your coverage on over 800 major components. You can choose the time and mileage option that best suits your needs and budget.

New Powertrain Plus Protection Plans is even more affordable with coverage on over 350+ components. This offers great protection by extending your Powertrain and basic component coverage.

When deciding if an extended protection plan on your vehicle is worth the cost it’s important to understand that vehicles these days are packed with gadgets we all love but those gadgets come with a heavy price tag to fix without an extended warranty. You don’t want to be in a position with a big service bill and no warranty to cover the cost. Give yourself the peace of mind you deserve and protect yourself from future costly repairs.

Gone are the days of fixing your vehicle in your own garage with these expensive computer systems you need a certified technician to repair your vehicle. The factory warranty won’t last forever. Mopar vehicles come with a factory warranty that covers your vehicle bumper-to-bumper for three years or 36,000 miles. By the time that warranty ends, your car has racked up mileage and is more likely to need repairs now than it did before. Adding an extra two or three years onto your coverage can make all the difference when a costly service is needed.

Comprehensive coverage protects just about everything.

Best place to purchase Mopar official Mopar warranty- dont buy from local dealer!

Comparing the 8 year, 125,000 mile Maximum Care plan, with a $100 deductible:

ChryslerWarrantyDirect: $2,750
Ziegler: $2,715, - $365 discount (PAYINFULL) = $2,350

A little disingenuous, wouldn't you say, JRex? The $3,650 you quote is the MSRP, which Ziegler shows on their quote, WITH IT CROSSED OUT, and their $2,715 price replacing it.

To me, the place you're advocating it charging customers $400 more for the same exact thing.

Full disclosure - I am NOT affilliated with either company. When I bought my Ram, I shopped around, and found the best price at Ziegler. When the finance guy at my dealership gave me the warranty pitch, I stopped him, gave him the Ziegler quote, and said if he could match that, I'd buy it. He was honest, and said he couldn't - that he could only come within $100 of their quote. Due to his honesty, and to keep things a little simpler, I bought it from him @ $2,450. What's $100 when you're buying a >$60K truck?

But I want people on this forum to have the facts, and get the best deal they can. To me, I haven't seen a better price than what Ziegler offers. If anyone can find a Mopar Maxcare 8/125K w/ $100 deductible for under $2,350, by all means, post it up. cwd.PNGZiegler.PNG

Official Mopar® Warranty Plans for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM and Fiat Vehicles

What We Like

The allure of an extended warranty such as the Mopar Vehicle Protection plan is due to its coverage of components and added benefits such as roadside assistance. The Maximum Care plan is pretty extensive when it comes to inclusions, while the Added Care Plus plan is pretty standard when compared to many other manufacturer's extended warranties.

The Mopar Vehicle Protection plan perk that is particularly compelling is the roadside assistance. If you are a frequent traveler and not mechanically inclined, the service can come in handy, particularly on long trips. It's good to have that peace of mind in case your car fails to start, you run out of gas, or you accidentally lock your keys inside your vehicle.

It's also helpful to be reimbursed for an Uber, Lyft, taxi, or rental car if your vehicle breaks down and repairs take more than one day to fix.

What We Don’t Like

One of the problems with the Mopar Vehicle Protection plan is that services must be provided by the dealer that sold you the plan. There is an exception if you cannot return to the selling dealer for service, but you have to request it from another FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) dealer. This can be problematic if your vehicle is far from an FCA dealer and towing exceeds the $100 occurrence limit.

Also, the four-year, 48,000-mile limit forces you to overlap coverage with the standard factory powertrain warranty. If you buy an older Chrysler vehicle that no longer has its powertrain warranty, your options are limited.

Common Repair Costs

Some of the most common issues and repair costs with Chrysler vehicles:

  • Chrysler 300: Cabin air filter replacement ($65-$74)
  • Chrysler 300M: Window regulator replacement ($946-$976)
  • Chrysler 300: Check engine light diagnosis and testing ($208-$276)

FAQs

Q. Do I need an extended warranty?

A. It's a personal choice. If you have an older vehicle or one that tends to have a lot of problems, an extended warranty may help save you money in the long run.

Q. What does Chrysler’s extended warranty cover?

A. The MVP Maximum Care plan covers 5,000 components and is exclusionary, meaning it covers nearly everything with a few exceptions. Most of the exceptions are maintenance services, body and paint surfaces, and wear items. The Added Care Plus plan covers 850 components.

Q. Are there alternatives to the MVP plans?

A. You have the option of purchasing an extended warranty from a third-party provider. It pays to do your research because they provide a variety of options that you may find more appealing.

Q. How much does an extended warranty cost?

A. Typically, an extended car warranty can cost several hundred dollars per year. However, each policy is different, and the plans cover different things.

Is Chrysler’s Extended Warranty Worth It?

People have mixed feelings about extended warranties. Some avoid them because they don't want to pay extra for the coverage. This makes sense with basic extended warranties because they simply lengthen the defect repair coverage of manufacturer warranties. However, Chrysler's MVP plan, particularly the Maximum Care plan, has some rather compelling benefits.

The Maximum Care plan covers 5,000 components and has additional perks, which is appealing if you don't want to wear out your credit card over unexpected repairs on your vehicle. The MVP plans may be less attractive if you're into wrenching your own ride or drive your vehicle less than the average person. Ultimately, it's up to you if the coverage and perks are worth it.

Pros

  • Lifetime warranty no longer available
  • Limited pre-owned information available online
  • Plan only accepted at qualified FCA dealerships

Warranty In-Depth

When you purchase any Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ram, Jeep, or Alfa Romeo vehicle, you have the option to select from one of four plans. Which is available to you depends on the age and mileage of the car. The good news is that most programs are very customizable, and you can select a time frame and deductible that works best for you.

Pre-Owned Plans

If you have an older vehicle, you’ll have to work with a pre-owned plan. There are actually two different pre-owned plans available. Mopar's Certified Pre-Owned policy is suitable for cars with no more than 75,000 miles on the odometer. The Traditional Pre-Owned policy is available for vehicles that are under 10 years old and have fewer than 150,000 miles on them, or under 125,000 miles if there's already a five-year/60,000-mile warranty from Mopar in place. That said, a Pre-Owned policy is a comprehensive plan that does rival the factory warranty qualified Mopar vehicles come with.

To determine if your vehicle qualifies for this coverage, the dealer must conduct a detailed inspection. If it does, you can then get a quote on the policy's details and the options you have to work with. Otherwise, you can also call in for quotes, but limited information is available online.

Powertrain Plus

The Powertrain Plus package is the entry-level option, but it still covers a long list of significant components. That includes parts of the engine, transmission, drive axles, steering, and AC system. As with all others, this plan is also very flexible and gives you the option to choose the deductibles and terms you want. What makes this very appealing is that it can be extremely affordable. It allows you to have low monthly payments while offering comprehensive protection for the vehicle.

Don't be fooled by this being a budget-friendly option, though. It includes several benefits that most drivers deem essential for a warranty. Roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement, and trip interruption protection are all a part of the deal. The plan also includes a transfer policy allowing you to transfer the policy upon your vehicle's sale.

Added Care Plus

Despite the Powertrain Plus being the most affordable option, the Added Care Plus is viewed by many as the best value option. This policy can often be customized to have exceptionally competitive pricing despite offering coverage for more than 850 system components.

There's no way to understate the substantial differences between what this plan and its more affordable counterpart offer coverage for either. The policy provides coverage of the same components as the Powertrain Plus policy, along with hundreds of additional parts of systems it does not.

More good news is that all of the additional perks that come with a Powertrain Plus policy carry over as well. That includes the ability to transfer the policy if you decide to sell your vehicle. Of course, this can increase the overall value by quite a bit.

Maximum Care

Also known as Mopar's Maxcare plan, this is the most inclusive policy as it covers more than 5,000 parts of the vehicle. It's a full bumper-to-bumper policy that covers all major components except for wear items. As with any policy, you have the option to customize the plan in ways that can make for an exceptionally affordable warranty.

Of course, you can max out the number of miles, years and minimize the deductible to make for a more costly option. But even then, you have the opportunity to spread the expense out with monthly payments with 0 percent interest.

Considering the number of parts this warranty covers and that it can follow the vehicle to its 125,000th mile, you can stand to save a substantial amount of money throughout the years. And yes, it can be transferred with the sale of the vehicle and increase your asking price.

What We Like

The most obvious thing to like about a Mopar Vehicle Protection plan is the number of options you have to work with. Furthermore, all plans have virtually the same amount of coverage in terms of years and mileage. Obviously, going with a higher-tier plan does give one more option to work with. But it’s still great to see that no matter what, you can pick a plan that fits within virtually any budget.

On that note, we’d also like to point out that these plans can be very affordable. Using the online quote tool, we can see that one has the option to select a 6-year/60,000 mile Maximum Care plan that comes out to monthly payments of around $60.00 with a 2021 Challenger that has under 12,000 miles. Yes, you can opt for plans that have payments extending over the $200 mark, but that only reinforces our point about how many options you have.

Another one of the many benefits of going with a Mopar vehicle protection plan is the fact that you can choose your own deductible. In fact, when customizing your quote, you have the option to select between a $0, $100, or $200 deductible. However, whatever you select directly influences the price of your policy and your monthly payments.

What We Don’t Like

A con we list above is the fact that lifetime warranties are no longer available through Mopar. To be fair, this is explained on its site, and the logic behind it makes sense. Many customers buy this plan only to sell the car or truck five years later. It’s simply not worth supplying lifetime warranties if folks aren’t putting them to use. On the other side of thinking, FCA manufactures long-lasting vehicles that people aren’t likely to sell in the near future.

No lifetime warranty isn’t exactly news, though, nor is it something that most people are concerned with. However, the limited information for pre-owned vehicle plans is a concern. The primary plans only cover vehicles with model years dating back to four years before the current one. In other words, you can only get a plan to cover a vehicle with the model year of 2017 or newer in 2021. While you can get the information you need on those plans online, you have to call about your options for vehicles that do not qualify.

Common Repair Costs

Here are some of the mostcommon issues and repair costs with Mopar vehicles:

  • 2019 Dodge Challenger: Head gasket replacement $1,053-$1,282
  • 2018 Jeep Wrangler: AC Clutch Replacement $576-$605
  •  2019 Dodge Charger: Fuel Pump Replacement $788-$847
  • 2019 Ram 2500: Wheel Hub Assembly Replacement $547-$576

FAQs

Coming from experience, it is easy to be blinded by a name and automatically assume that whatever it sells is good for you. But even if you’re a die-hard Mopar nut, you really want to have all of your questions answered before giving the brand your money. That said, we’re going to do our best to answer those questions by running through some of the most frequently asked questions.

Q. Can you cancel a Mopar Vehicle Protection warranty?

Yes. You can cancel the plan so long as you are the original purchaser and the plan has not expired or been terminated.

Q. Is Mopar Vehicle Protection a good warranty?

Yes. These plans are great and they have competitive pricing. Seeing that you can also customize the plan you choose, there is very little to dislike.

Q. Is it worth buying Mopar Vehicle Protection auto extended warranty?

If you have the option to, it’s certainly worth doing. After all, you can select between a number of plans and customize any so that they are affordable to you.

Q. What does the Mopar Vehicle Protection extended auto warranty cover?

That depends on the policy you select. The basic offering may only cover critical drivetrain components, while Maxcare covers more than 5,000 parts.

Q. What does the Mopar Vehicle Protection warranty cover?

It depends on the plan you select. Again, you can choose the affordable Powertrain Plus plan to cover the basics or the Maxcare policy if you want bumper-to-bumper protection.

Q. How much does a Mopar Vehicle Protection warranty cost?

Policy pricing can vary greatly. Depending on the period, deductible, and plan you choose, a policy can run anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.

Q. Can I get a refund on Mopar Vehicle Protection extended car warranty?

When you cancel a Mopar warranty, a refund may be issued so long as no claims have been made.

Q. Does Mopar Vehicle Protection provide good customer experience?

An area of concern with a Mopar policy is the presence of bad reviews from customers. It would appear that Mopar does do its best to resolve complaints, but one does need to be well-versed in their policy to protect themselves.

Q. How can I cancel my Mopar Vehicle Protection warranty?

To cancel a plan, you must take it to the dealer, who can process your request.

Is a Mopar Vehicle Protection Warranty Worth It?

A Mopar Vehicle Protection Plan is certainly worth investing in. Even if you’re satisfied with the existing 36,000-mile warranty, it’s hard not to recommend spending a little money to extend your protection. That’s especially true considering the fact that you can customize the plan to fit into virtually any budget as monthly payments can be as low as $50-$60. Yes, that’s more money out of your pocket each month, but it can ultimately save you thousands of dollars in the long run.
