Cadillac Escalade EXT Expert Review

Staff Writer

The Escalade is the high-end large SUV from the luxury carmaker Cadillac; the EXT versions combine the front of the SUV models with a rear truck bed. It is categorized by Cadillac as an SUT and has been a regular of the lineup, though not as popular as the regular Escalade models. The 2013 Cadillac Escalade EXT saw only minor changes like guiding line on the backup camera and different trims for the interior and a couple additional color options for the exterior. The EXT is a large vehicle and sits high, seating five passengers plus a small truck bed. Optionally a folded midgate can lengthen the truck bed as needed, but decreases seating to only two people in the rear.

Some of the areas which have received positive feedback for the 2013 EXT include the ability to configure the truck bed to accommodate more cargo, its highly luxurious interior, and a very powerful and able engine. There have been some criticisms of the EXT as well including its very large dimensions which can make it difficult to drive in the urban settings where they are most common, terrible gas mileage for any 2013, even within the luxury SUV class at 13/18 mpg, and extending the cargo bed leaves rear occupants exposed to the elements. Pricing is another area where the EXT falls far short of some of its competitors, often by tens of thousands of dollar more. However, it is considered a more luxurious model than any of its immediate competitors.

Cadillac offers drivers three base Escalade EXT models for 2013 including the base AWD model starting at $63,060, the Luxury AWD starting at $67,250, and the Premium AWD starting at $69,640.

The Escalade makes do with minor revisions for another year. The rearview camera gets guiding lines; the nav gets a low-fuel warning; range-topping Platinum and Hybrid Platinum can now be had with a black interior; the center console lid is redesigned; and there are two new colors -- Radiant Silver Metallic and Crystal Red Tintcoat.

The 2013 Cadillac Escalade EXT is very bulky and the half SUV half truck design has received both positive and negative feedback from a design perspective. It is a very original look and there are only a couple of models with anything similar including the Avalanche. The EXT features 45.5 cubic feet for the cargo bed and this can be increased to 101 cubic feet with the midgate up. It still uses the triangular C-pillar extensions which were introduced with the first generation. The exterior elements are angular including the boxy headlights. The overall look has been described as aggressive and powerful. Features include standard eighteen-inch wheel with 22-inch wheels optional, a removable and lockable tonneau cover, and optional power-retractable assist steps.

The inside of the 2013 Cadillac EXT is roomy and loaded with luxuries. It seats five people normally in two roomy front bucket seats and a rear bench. When the cargo bed is extended the rear is switched to two seats and occupants are exposed to the elements. Standard features include quality leather upholstery, power front seats, automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, navigation, backup camera, and a high-end sound system. A couple of the notable optional include a rear entertainment system and heated steering wheel.

Safety features for the 2013 EXT include four-wheel-disc antilock brakes, electronic stability, rollover mitigation technology, front, side curtain, and side-impact airbags.

All models have a powerful 6.2-liter, V-8 premium, flex, or E85 engine. It is rated at 403-hp and 417 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. For such a large vehicle the EXT can accelerate and handles with confidence. The dimensions can make it unwieldy in traffic and visibility can be poor. All models are AWD. It has an impressive 7600 pound towing capacity. Magnetic Ride Control instead of mechanical shock absorbers is optional.

Be Smart, Check in Advance. CARFAX — Your Vehicle History.

CARFAX — Your Vehicle History Expert

Sometimes what you don't know can't hurt you, but that's not the case when buying a used car. As an independent vehicle history provider, at CARFAX we've made it our mission to tell you everything you need to know by uncovering as many events as possible from the previous life of a used car. Our primary goal is to help you get to know your next car from the inside out before deciding to make an investment that will be part of you and your family's everyday life. We believe your next car shouldn't be hiding anything from you.

CARFAX Vehicle History Reports contain over 28 billion historical records from 20 European countries, the US and Canada, which are updated daily with new information.

Even if you live in a country we don't collect vehicle data from, it's still always worth checking the Vehicle Identification Number without obligation. The used car import and export market is booming and many owners would be surprised to find out exactly what happened to their vehicle during its previous life abroad.

Privacy for Customers — Transparency over Vehicles

Let's be clear: Although we strive to find every detail of a vehicle's life so far, we are focused only on the vehicle's history, and do not collect any information on previous owners. The information we provide relates solely to the vehicle, its odometer reading, any accidents that have been covered up, where the vehicle comes from and much more — it never gets personal. We've uncovered irreparable damage several times in the past, but other times our vehicle history checks draw a blank — and sometimes that's actually a good thing.

Second Hand — Not Second Best

Did you know that considerably more used cars are sold than new cars? We think this second-hand system is nothing short of fantastic. However, it goes without saying that it gives rise to different methods and tactics: Some sellers will disguise a car that's been in an accident under a fresh coat of paint, tamper with the odometer or conceal theft. This is one of the less appealing aspects of buying second hand. Our goal is to establish trusting relationships between buyers and sellers, since this is the best way to help customers make the right decision. Your new car should be reliable and make you feel safe, as well as make you feel like you haven't paid too much.

But more than anything else, we don't want you or your family unknowingly sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle that isn't 100% safe. This is why we strive to take these vehicles off the road, which not only makes the used car market safer but our streets safer too.

CARFAX — 35+ Years of Experience in Vehicle Histories

CARFAX was founded in the US in 1984 and expanded into Europe in 2007. Around 100 team members spread across six European offices process vehicle information from 22 countries.

Fostering strategic partnerships with registration authorities, law enforcement agencies, government departments, insurance companies, inspection centers and numerous other leading companies around the world has enabled us to compile a unique international database for vehicle histories. We use this database to help make the used car market more transparent. We give everyone in the process of buying a used car access to what is currently the world's most comprehensive source for vehicle history reports, and is growing day by day.

We remain neutral and independent despite our partnerships — our sole purpose is help customers make an informed choice and ensure their safety and the safety of their family. This includes never collecting any personal details — we do not accept any PII from data sources amongst the information we provide about a vehicle. We ensure that data protection laws are observed at all times. Furthermore, we always collect our data in compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks — in all the countries in which we are active. We expressly distance ourselves from illegal activities such as data theft, scraping and hacking.

Such a handsome man, he quickly snapped his fingers and grimaced with displeasure. Sad gray walls. Conversations and soft music were heard. Gripping the handles of her purse tighter. The clatter of heels echoed down the hallway.

And there was something to admire. Fork always wore stretched sweaters, banana jeans with numerous pockets, sports shoes, and cut her hair short. And then, unexpectedly, by chance, I opened her molded body, legs, crotch, butt, breasts, neck. I don't even know how to convey, as if from under the hand of a sculptor in love, chiseled splendor and, at the same time, lively, warm.

Pavel pulled the dick out of this young bitch's mayfly, reddened from vigorous fucking. He sat down on the next sofa and watched his wife's pile play.
