Frank’N’Bus – Gotham Garage – 2018
Car Masters: Rust to Riches, Netflix series of 2 seasons of 8 episodes (2018), this is a series that is a bit unusual in the sense that they do not do repairs to sell cars, but to exchange them for models that will sell for more expensive once restored and so on.
They may restore a car just to trade it in for a shiny engine, but they also occasionally make special orders for certain customers.
This series, like others of the same kind are contested by a certain public which doubts the existence of such a garage which employs some stars of the showbiz, and who think that Netflix fixes reality a little to make it more catchy, but I will not go into these television considerations.
- The director : Mark Towle
- The deputy director : Shawn Pilot (Poker player and actor)
- The Creative : Tony Quinones
- The Motorist : Constance Nunes (Top Model)
- The caveman : Mike “Caveman” Pyle
Today we’ll talk about Frank’N’Bus, a Volkswagen combi.
Originally, Mark and Shawn traded in a Firefighter Hot-Rod for a rusty 1978 suit, a Honda Goldwing, a V8 engine and an old pickup.
After bringing it all back to the Gotham Garage, Mark immediately had the absurd idea of turning him into some kind of monster in 6 wheels.
This is what will happen during the show
The Volkswagen combi is laid bare, then cut, elongate, welded.
A first engine that was lying in the garage is installed by Constance Nunes
A special chassis for 6 wheels will be built and adapted for the occasion.
A second rear axle is installed on the chassis which is put in place, big wheels are mounted, they redo a new cutout for the wheel arches.
The jumpsuit will remain naked, unpainted with a low roof. It will contain 6 Seating places.
The team will realize that the engine was too ugly and too weak and that a new one would be needed.. The Honda Goldwing will be customized in Steampunk for an exchange for a boat dragster engine of 1500 horses. Mark will bring in a specialist in this type of engine to work with Constance who seems to have some shortcomings, the power will finally be reduced to 700hp for the combi. The old engine will eventually be dismantled and the new one will be placed back in the center of the machine. The hood will be a motorized 'butterfly' side door.
All you have to do is install the final touches to complete the monster.
A crazy video will then be produced
Mark wanted more 100.000$ and finally it will be left to 73.000$ to 2 drag collectors. It seems to me that about 30.000$ have been invested in the combi, and a good number of hours of work for a result that disappoints me a bit anyway ...

15 Sickest Cars Built By The Gotham Garage Crew (And 1 That Sucked)
If you're a car enthusiast with some time to kill, Netflix has you covered with Car Masters: Rust To Riches.Following the work of the Gotham Garage crew as they build custom and movie/TV/pop-culture-inspired cars in hopes of trading up for a real money-maker. Plenty of entertainment is to be had from the mix of personalities working their hardest to build some awesome rides.
Updated September 2021: If you're a fan of Car Masters: Rust To Riches and the crew over at Gotham Garage, you'll be pleased to know that we've updated this article with some of the crazy creations from the latest season of the very popular Netflix show.
And awesome rides they are, from replicas of movie cars to unique hot rods that let the Gotham Garage crew's imagination go wild, plenty of sick cars are featured on Car Masters: Rust To Riches. And while the show may not innovate on the automotive entertainment formula, it follows it perfectly, providing some quality entertainment for any bored car nut to enjoy.
If you aren't sold on the show already, read on and see 15 of the sickest cars brought to life by Gotham Garage, as well as 1 that sucked:
16 Sick: 1960s Plymouth XNR Concept Car
The Gotham Garage crew have built some very unique cars over the years. Most of these are completely their own design and vision, but the XNR was meant to be as close to the original as possible. Plymouth designed it to compete directly against the popular two-seater roadsters of the time, but the car never actually made it into production.
The Car Masters cast did their best to recreate the car as accurately as possible, and we have to say they succeeded at that, giving the audience a glimpse of a small part of the automotive history in the process.

15 Sick: 1940's Woody Station Wagon
Mark Towle decided to go disregard Shawn Pilot's advice and went totally nuts when building this Woody station wagon. While they did struggle to find any buyers, and in the end traded it away for a bunch of other classics, we have to agree that Towle was right. This 1940's station wagon is certainly a unique car.
The Gotham Garage crew turned it into a stunningly awesome Woody hot rod. The purple paint job combined with the hot rod design and absolutely mahoosive engine easily made it one of our favorite cars ever built on the show.
14 Sick: Batmobile Replica
While pop culture nostalgia can be a great thing, sometimes it can backfire quite spectacularly. This awesome Batmobile replica may be one of the coolest cars Gotham Garage has made, but it cost them dearly. Warner Brothers didn't see this as an awesome tribute, but rather as a copyright infringement, and subsequently won their lawsuit against Gotham Garage. Unfortunate, considering the love and care that went into the car.
13 Sick: Splittin'Image
Based on a Hot Wheels original design, the Splittin'Image is a custom build that will get anyone who played with Hot Wheels as a kid excited. Based on the chassis of a C4 Corvette, this Hot Wheels tribute has some hotness under the hood too, with a tuned L79 V8, and plenty of go-fast bits to boot. The interior as well is awesome, with an Ostrich leather wrapped steering wheel and seats.
12 Sick: Ford Vicky
The Ford Vicky, a slang term for the Ford Victoria of the 1930s, is a dream car for any Hot Rod build. Being a dream car also means they are quite pricey, a situation the Gotham Garage crew avoided by buying a replica. But the replica was spot on, and the Hot Rod building credentials of Gotham Garage shined with this gorgeous green 1930s rocket.

11 Sick: Dodge Power Wagon
There's not a whole lot that can match the bad-ass nature of a big truck built for off-road dominance. There also happens to no be a lot of vehicles that can match a vintage Dodge Power Wagon in terms of bad-ass looks. Combine the two, and the end result is this amazing vintage off-road monster. Not a whole lot can slow this beast down.
10 Sick: Speed Racer Mach 5 Replica
Fans of classic cartoons will instantly recognize this as Speed Racer's awesome retro-futuristic ride. Fans of modifying Corvettes will recognize this as the ultimate potential for customization the C4 Corvette has. With a custom body reducing the weight of the donor car by 1000 lbs, the V8 power of the Corvette remaining intact, and jaw dropping looks, this is about as cool as a custom Corvette can get, especially for those of us with nostalgia for the golden age of cartoons.
One of the more subtle builds done by the Gotham Garage crew is this sweet old Chevy pickup, but subtle doesn't mean it isn't awesome. These old trucks are sick to begin with, embodying function over form at it's most classic. This Fleetside happens to have a whole lot more performance function in it too, with Corvette suspension, and an LS motor under the hood, now that's a sick ride, with practicality and performance.
8 Sick: VW Beetle Hot Rod
When you think of what cars are suitable as a Hot Rod, you probably imagine a 1930s American coupe like a '32 Ford, or a 1950s steel sled like a '54 Chevy. But that's been done plenty of times before, and Gotham Garage is about being unique. What hasn't been done to death is using a classic VW Beetle as a Hot Rod, a move that proved to produce some sick results, as you can see.
7 Sick: Ford Thunderbird "Rocket Car"
Vintage T-Birds are some of the coolest looking American classics around, even when in their stock form, but with the right custom work they can be elevated even further. This build is a great example of that, with custom fairings inspired by rockets and fighter jets. Performance is also rocket-like with a Small Block Ford 302 V8 under the hood. And that's not even mentioning the perfectly executed chrome wrap, which often looks distasteful, but not here.

6 Sick: International COE Shop Truck
While most garages are satisfied with using any old truck to haul project cars and parts around in, Gotham Garage is all about going over the top with custom touches, having a boring old hauler just wouldn't cut it for them. This classic COE truck was acquired in rough shape, but was turned into a custom so sick that it deserves its own place alongside the awesome car builds it hauls.
5 Sick: Ford T-Bucket Fire Truck
T-Bucket hot rods are cool enough as is. Taking the world's first mass produced car and turning it into a hot rod creates something truly special, adding a fully custom C-cab (notice the shape of the cabin?) inspired by fire trucks is just a whole other level of cool. Rolling down the street in this machine is about as cool as any normal person can hope to look.

4 Sick: Lincoln Futura
If this rolling work of art looks similar to the Batmobile on this list, that's because it served as the base for it, both in terms of the original, and the Gotham Garage re-creation. But to even get it to that point was a testament to the skills of Gotham Garage's crew. The Lincoln Futura was a one-off concept car. This one here was lovingly recreated by Gotham Garage, and for the short while it lived as a Futura, it was downright sick. Not that the Batmobile it became isn't.
3 Sick: Old Crow Special
One of the more interesting vehicles acquired by Gotham Garage was this 1930s dirt track Sprint Racer, named the "Old Crow Special." As Mark Towle explains on Car Masters, these early race cars were built mostly by farmers with a need for speed, using whatever tractor parts they could get their hands on, and a motor usually from a Ford Model A. In the end, the Gotham Garage crew restored it beyond its former glory, and into a dirt track rocket.
2 Sick: Chevy Bel Air
While the earlier 1950's Bel Air gets more attention as a legendary full-size Chevy, the later 1960s models are still awesome pieces of classic Detroit steel. This one in particular looks amazing in the classic baby blue paint so typical of the '60s, but with the Tunnel Ram intake, and mint restoration, this Bel Air is as intimidating as it is fresh.

1 Sucked: Chrysler Sebring Race Car
While a custom build like this would normally inspire people to stay well away from the shop that made it, this one can be excused. Built for the 24 Hours of Lemons race, where the price limit for a car is $500, this $400 Sebring is a whole lot funnier when you understand the garbage worshiping ways of Lemons racing. That doesn't change the fact that it's a rolling pile of junk though.

Speed Racer Mach 5
Arguably my favorite Gotham Garage creation, this Mach 5 replica from the cartoon series Speed Racer hits me in all the right spots.
It’s based on a Chevrolet Corvette C4, and not only did Gotham Garage retain the Corvette C4’s V-8 engine in this custom build, but it also managed to slash 1,000 pounds off the car’s hips.
Combine that with the Mach 5’s iconic look — the trident nose, the “M” livery on the hood, and the “5” racing number on the doors — and you have a custom creation that’s truly one for the ages. The attention-to-detail is incredible, right down to the periscope camera and the buzzing saw blades that come out from underneath the front section of the race car.
Hot Wheels Splittin Image Car
The Chevrolet Corvette C4 has proven itself to be a favorite base car by Gotham Garage. The sports car was used as a donor car for the Speed Racer Mach 5, but Gotham also used another Corvette C4 to serve as the base of this incredible creation.
Those who are familiar with Hot Wheels will recognize this beauty as a life-sized version of the Splitting Image Hot Wheels car that was released by toymaker Mattel back in 1969.
It’s hard to pick which detail of this life-sized Splitting Image racer is my favorite. The twin cockpit is an incredible touch that pays proper tribute to the scaled-down race car. The interior is dressed in fancy leather with ostrich insert custom bucket seats to go with an ostrich leather steering wheel. It’s even powered by the same 5.7-liter V-8 engine that the Vette has at its disposal. The Splitting Image car is a true one-of-one. It’s registered in California, and if you happen to have around $150,000 lying around somewhere, you have a chance to take this beauty home with you.
Volkswagen Beetle Bug Rod
If you thought that there aren’t that many ways to custom tune a Volkswagen Beetle, you obviously don’t know what Gotham Garage is capable of. The tuner can take any vehicle and turn it into something entirely different. Case in point? The Volkswagen Beetle Bug Rod. It’s far from a traditional hot rod, but this pumped up Beetle looks the part of a bug that’s going to be hard to kill in a drag strip.
The roof’s been taken out and the front axle has been kicked further into the front, hot rod style. Check out the plush interior, too. That’s Gotham Garage at its best. You get more than you expect.
Gotham Garage is known for some of the wildest custom builds you’ll ever see. With that thought in mind, feast your eyes on this monstrosity. What was once a mild-mannered Volkswagen Bus is now a six-wheeled monstrosity that’s well suited in the world of Mad Max.
Gotham Garage calls this creation the Frank’N’Bus, and the name is as appropriate as it looks.
It’s hard to explain the Frank’N’Bus without mentioning the third wheel axle, the beefed-up suspension, and the addition of a massive V-8 engine that helps make this raunchy marauder go like a bullet on the dunes.
It even has a thick plate of bulletproof glass that separates the engine from the passenger compartment. The Frank’N’Bus is the embodiment of Gotham Garage’s ability to turn scraps into, at least, in this case, a six-wheeled rider that’s equipped for surviving the apocalypse.
The Grape Digger
The Smart is arguably one of the most boring cars you’ll see on the road. Its small bulbous look isn’t visually inspiring and it has barely enough power to get you from Point A to Point B. Gotham Garage knows all of that, and yet, the auto custom shop still went ahead and created the Grape Digger, a modified Smart Car that now looks — and runs — like a mini monster truck.
Forget the raised suspension, the massive off-road tires, and the exoskeleton frame for a second and just focus on the hilarity of a muscle-bound Smart Car whose nickname was inspired by one of the most famous monster trucks — Grave Digger — in the world.
The fact that this creation was commissioned by a customer who owns a vineyard — hence the name “Grape Digger” — only adds to the ridiculously awesome nature of this build.
Chrysler Sebring Race Car from Hell
Gotham Garage is an equal opportunity builder. It’ll take on any project, provided that it sees some merit to what it’s going to build. Take this Chrysler Sebring Race Car, for example. The renowned tuner built this — there are no words to describe it — for the 24 Hours of Lemons race.
Since the price limit of any car competing in that race is only $500, Gotham worked with what it could, and the result is nothing short of incredible.
I can’t tell what I’m more impressed by. Is it the makeshift windshield made from a miniature soccer goal, the two spray-painted eyes above where the Chrysler logo used to be, or the gnarly teeth on the radiator grille? Maybe it’s all of them in equal doses. Whatever it is, I take comfort knowing that Gotham Garage knows when to have some fun with garbage, too.
From garbage to gold, allow me to present to you the Munster Koach, arguably one of the finest creations to come out of Gotham Garage. Inspired directly by the car driven in the sitcom the Munsters, this replica of the Munster Koach is, without question, the most accurate version of the Hollywood car ever created. No wonder Mark Towle spent a great deal of time researching and building the car, piece by piece, to ensure its authenticity relative to the real car that was used in the American sitcom. The Gotham-built Koach even comes with all the equipment and ornaments found in the Hollywood car, right down to the moon eye gauges and the three-spoke custom wooden steering wheel.
As far as Hollywood car replicas are concerned, Gotham Garage’s Munsters Koach is as good as it gets.
Gotham Garage Custom Rat Rod Tow Truck
When is a tow truck not really a tow truck, except that it can still be a tow truck? The answer, of course, has something to do with Gotham Garage. Built from the bones of a 1940 Ford, the Gotham Garage Custom Rat Rod Tow Truck looks as incredible as you’d expect an 80-year old tow truck to look. The body is covered in rust, but everything else — the mechanicals, especially — is all modern and completely up-to-date. The uniqueness of this build isn’t limited to its appearance since it’s a tow truck in name and function. It comes with a 454 engine, dual mags on the back, and yes, a real working winch that allows it to tow a select number of vehicles without completely falling apart. As far as creative builds go, this has to be one of Gotham Garage’s best works.
Police cars were once called paddy wagons, and while that phrase is no longer in vogue, Gotham Garage always finds a way to bring relevance back to the irrelevant. This, folks, is a paddy wagon that’s straight out of our time. The tuning shop calls it the Fuzzmobile, and among other goodies, it comes powered by a modified Cobra engine. The overall design is just as eye-catching, thanks to the authentic police globes, cycle fenders, and the set of wide Goodyear tires wrapped on mag wheels.
The highlight of this build, though, has to be the interior.
There are authentic wood benches in there, in case you want to get the real dated treatment.
Look hard enough and you’ll notice a few antique bits and pieces, too. This is the Fuzzmobile, folks, and it’s ready to take on criminals everywhere!
Ford T-Bucket Fire Truck
There’s cool, there’s cool, and then there’s the Ford T-Bucket Fire Truck. If it’s not enough that Gotham Garage recreated the world’s first mass-produced vehicle, the noted tuner also turned it into a fully functioning hot rod, complete with a custom C-cab that’s inspired by fire trucks.
This is custom building that’s on a completely different level. There are so many cool things about this build that picking one just doesn’t seem fair. From the open front end that reveals the hot rod crate to the firetruck-inspired rear section to the custom-built interior, everything about the Ford T-Bucket Fire Truck is impressive. That’s just how Gotham Garage rolls.

Now I realized that this bitch is best tied. Near the bed there was a chest of drawers with her things and without getting off Alice, I opened one of her chefs at the very. Head of her bed, there were laces from some of her cross-scoops, and without wasting a second I tied the hands of this slut to the grate of the bed above her head.
