The mission of University of Houston-Clear Lake Police Department is to provide exceptional law enforcement service and effectively respond to critical and emergency situations, while proactively safeguarding the lives and liberties of our community.
Our talented and dedicated staff works 24 hours a day and 7 days a week throughout the year to ensure we achieve this mission and attend to the campus, buildings and people under our care. We achieve this through providing educational opportunities to the campus community, conducting regular outreach efforts, offering escort services to cars at night, assisting stranded motorists and more.

The dedicated professionals of the Clear Lake Shores Police Department, in cooperation with the citizens of Clear Lake Shores, shall strive to provide a safe, secure, and viable community through:

It is the duty of all Law Enforcement agencies and officials to keep the citizen’s we serve informed of legal updates and appropriate laws related to our communities. This message is provided in keeping with that spirit, and is presented to insure public trust and to create an environment of cooperation and mutual respect.
Senate Bill 30, which was enacted during the 85th Legislative Session, is titled the Texas Community Safety Education Act. It seeks to change citizen and officer interactions by standardizing the training received by Texas drivers and Law Enforcement officers. A link to this bill is provided, and citizens are encouraged to review the information contained there, so as to inform them of their rights, abilities, and expectations when interacting with any law enforcement officer.

Along with this Act, I encourage you to review the information contained in the Texas Department of Public Safety Drivers Handbook. It will insure that you, the citizens, are well informed of your rights and duties while operating a motor vehicle upon Texas roadways and within our community. The UHCL Police Department maintains a consistent and equitable hiring process designed to identify the most qualified candidates for hire. We are an equal opportunity employer.
Step 1: Job Posting - Position will be posted for a minimum of two weeks. Applicant must apply online.
Step 2: Screening - Applicants are screened to ensure they meet minimum requirements as posted in the job description. Applicants who do not meet minimum requirements will be advised at this stage of what requirements they are lacking.
Step 3: Exam - If a written exam is required, candidates must pass all phases of the written exam with a minimum score of 70%.
Step 4: Complete and Submit Personal History Statement - Police Department will send applicants a Personal History Statement packet to be completed within two weeks. Applicants who do not submit their Personal History Statement will not proceed to the next step.
Step 5: First Interview - Upon receipt of the Personal History Statement, applicants will be schedule to meet with the Selection Committee.
*Candidates applying for a supervisor position will also be required to complete and pass an assessment center.
Step 6: Background Investigation - Police Department conducts a background investigation.
Step 7: Review of Background Investigation - The Chief of Police, or designee, will review the background with investigators and determine whether the applicant will move on to the next step.
Step 8: Second Interview - Applicant meets with the Chief of Police or designee.
Step 9: Conditional Offer - Chief of Police or designee will decide whether to tender a conditional offer to selected applicant(s). Human Resources will make the official conditional offer.
i. If no conditions are required for the position, Steps 9 and 10 will be skipped.
Step 10: Completing Conditions - Police Department Recruiter will contact the applicant and schedule the conditional requirements, if any.
Step 11: Formal Offer - Human Resources will contact applicant to make formal offer and set official start date.
