We’ve got the BEST Christmas porch ideas for you!
It’s finally the time to make your house shine with Christmas decor and sparkle! I know many of us love to decorate the inside of our homes with Christmas trees and decorations, but don’t forget the outside of your home as well.
Do you decorate your front porch for Christmas?
There’s no better way to welcome guests with holiday cheer and warmth.
When you decorate your front porch, entryway and patio, add more than just a wreath to the door like my friend Sarah did with her winter boots and a basket of birch logs. After all, the Christmas season is the time to really deck the halls (and the porch).
Bright green holly with red berries, sparkling mini trees, and gorgeous holiday poinsettias are a few great decorations to spruce up your porches with. Don’t be afraid to bring a few indoor decorations outdoors as well.
Ornaments, lights and other festive items add to the beauty of your entryway.
Ready to create a front porch that will lead Santa (and guests) right to you front door? Here are some of the best Christmas porches we could find.
These beautiful Christmas porch decorations will welcome your guests in style!
What’s better than one gorgeous wreath wrapped in Christmas holly? TWO! Add double wreaths to your single front door!
The vertical wreath arrangement on the front door will really catch visitor’s eyes.
This porch also features some great, bright color by way of ribbons, bows and poinsettias!
Check out the loose ribbon on the holly swag, which creates a soft frame for this beautiful holiday porch vignette.
{ Thistlewood Farms }
If you’ve got a porch swing, make the most of it! Create a warm and cozy seating area right on your front porch by adding some festive Christmas pillows and a throw blanket.
Create a homey feel by adding a table, if you’ve got room.
The pinecones in a basket are the perfect holiday centerpiece.
On sunny December days, you may even be tempted to do some reading or enjoy your morning coffee on this inviting Christmas porch!
{ Celebrating Everyday Life }
Bring your ornaments outside and hang them from the ceiling!
On this porch, they used beautiful long ribbons in alternating silver and deep red. The red is echoed in the bittersweet berry wreath on the front door and those gorgeous poinsettia arrangements in white porch urns.
It adds a fun and whimsical touch.
The simple arrangement adds festive elegance to any holiday front door.
{ Centsational Girl }
Plaid pillows and a hot cocoa tray set up a festive look on this porch.
This is another outdoor holiday porch arrangement, where bringing the indoors out creates an inviting space to relax and wait for guests (or Santa).
Use a few pillows in outdoor-friendly fabrics, and bring blankets indoors if the winter weather turns blustery.
{ City Farmhouse }
Don’t be afraid to add a lot of greenery to your porch!
The yummy evergreen swag, holly berry wreaths and ivy make this front door feel like the perfect holiday cabin.
Don’t cover a beautiful windowed front door with a wreath–hang it below the glass, like they did on this beautiful door.
Seasonal touches like ice skates, chalkboard art and fireplace-ready woodpile finish off this adorable and inviting holiday entrance.
{ Cottage in the Oaks }
I love the look of the big pots of Christmas greenery and pinecones! There’s no reason to put empty pots in the garage over winter months.
Fill those beauties with some evergreen boughs, holly berries and branches.
The evergreen garland and front porch swags frame the look, sprinkled with pinecones for authenticity.
The door wreath is just the right touch of color and look beautiful hung.
{ The Creativity Exchange}
Have fun with a non-traditional wreath on your door, like this swag featuring bows, ribbon, berries, and bells.
Fresh garland frames a door nicely.
The urns with holiday plants in reds and whites are sweet touches that make this front door feel whimsical and inviting (just like the lettering on the happy welcome sign).
{ Decorchick }
How fun and funky is this cute front porch?! The bright blue bench looks perfectly Christmasy with the darling snowflake pillow.
Add painted polka dots on silver tins planted with mini-trees and you’ve got the most adorable porch in Whoville (or your neck of the woods).
I love how snowflakes were added to the tree, which call back to the snowflake pillow.
The DIY holiday wreath on the door is the perfect way to top off the Christmas porch display.
{ Tatertots and Jello }
While yummy, over-the-top Christmas porch decorations are fun and festive, you can still create a welcoming porch with simple touches.
This front porch uses several evergreen wreaths and a mini tree for a minimal-but-inviting arrangement.
The antique sleigh is the perfect addition!
{ Rooms for Rent }
This porch uses a holiday sled as well, but in a different display. The pine cones, bows and garland are accented with sparkling snowflakes (echoed in the snowflake pillow on the chair).
One of the best touches on this festive porch are the beautiful empty antique lanterns filled to the brim with shiny ornaments!
Such a great idea for Christmas porch decorations.
The warm fuzzy plaid blanket on the chair is the perfect place to sit while you put on your snow boots!
{ Our Southern Home }
How sweet and adorable is this Christmas porch? Makeshift burlap trees sparkle and shimmer with with Christmas lights.
The adorable ‘Charlie Brown’ Christmas tree flanks the side of the swing beautifully.
I love the addition of the blankets, warm jacket and boots!
This porch swing looks like it’s just begging for an occupant. The holiday front porch look is completed with the festive pillows.
{ Liz Marie Blog }
A covered porch is a great place to add another Christmas tree!
If you have a screened porch or a three-seasons porch, put it to good use by making it an outdoor extension of your living area!
You’ll notice the Coca-Cola crate and even the ornaments have a rustic feel that work seamlessly on a covered porch. You may love it so much, you’ll spend Christmas morning on the patio!
{ Hymns & Verses }
Candles on the porch steps light the way up the stoop and lead guest right to the welcoming front door.
The gorgeous real-pine swags and evergreen boughs look even more festive with hanging pine cone “ornaments” strewn on ribbon, ready to greet all who visit this holiday entryway.
{ Home Stories A to Z }
The Christmas tree art on this front porch is actually a great DIY project made with Sharpies! It’s so simple, yet festive and fun.
The black, white and red geometric designs are complemented by the pillows.
I love how a tall tin with greenery and the swag on the table complete the look.
{ Finding Home Farms }
Sleighs and vintage ice skates always give a great look to the front porch along with fresh garland.
Adding antiques and reclaimed items to your holiday porch decorations can be a great way to invoke a rustic, country feel to your porch.
The urns with greenery complete this inviting holiday porch.

Outdoor Christmas Decorating Ideas

Easy Outdoor Christmas Decorating Ideas
Oh, what fun it is to spread holiday cheer with outdoor Christmas decorations and sparkling outdoor lights. Whether the weather outside is frightful or delightful, your outdoor Christmas decorations can give a forecast that is merry and bright! Don’t limit decorating to just the mantel and tree; spread the good cheer to your front porch and yard too! Family and friends will get a warm welcome with these easy Christmas outdoor decoration ideas.
Front Porch Christmas Greetings
Traditional holiday decor would have you hang a wreath on your front door. Think outside the wreath and consider other holiday front door decor like wooden skis & poles or lighted holiday mittens. Place a pre-lit Christmas tree near your front door and add wrapped faux Christmas presents for a decorative display. Wrap pre-lit garland and red ribbon around pillars, posts, and handrails and top them with festive bows. Add a row of lighted white birch trees along a patio or deck to set a festive mood. Enliven the space with a colorful rug and some decorative cardinal pillows.
Front door decorating makes a powerful first impression. Put your guests in the holiday spirit before they even knock on the door!

Outdoor Lighted Christmas Decorations
Take a natural approach to your outdoor holiday decorating by placing lit reindeer among your landscaping. Their warm glow and gentle nature is a lovely way to celebrate the season with minimal effort.
Welcome Friends and Family
Roll out the red carpet to holiday guests with a festive front doormat. Add flickering LED lanterns, garland, and a wooden Santa, whimsical snowman, or some other guest greeter. Create a personal touch with a written message like “Welcome” or “Believe” on a sign. Everyone has their favorite sayings or phrases about this jolly time of year, so whether you want to encourage everyone to “Believe in the miracle of the season” or to be “Merry”, or welcome friends with a Christmas sign, choose your words wisely and celebrate!

Get Nostalgic with Old World Winter Decor
Decorations that are a blast from the past, like retro sleds sitting by the front door, old-fashioned ice skates-turned-planter, or a decked-out 1950s convertible ornament, all help remind us of happy holidays gone by and get everyone in the mood for mirth and merriment.

A sled and skates can be used in many ways. Prop them by your front door to create a cozy country Christmas display. Add a lit porch tree or oversized candy cane, a holiday sleigh, lanterns, and lush Christmas garland for a cheery front stoop. All quick & easy decorating ideas that make a big impact.

Light Up the Night
Christmas decor has gone beyond the usual string or two of lights. Illuminate every corner of your yard. Try a set of lit Christmas trees placed on each side of your porch entrance or glowing festive solar lanterns to line your walkways and dress up your lawn. Start at the curb then work your way to the front porch with lighted decorations to lead carolers and visitors alike to your door. Or, consider a trio of lit gifts that sparkle, a row of glowing snowflake candlesticks, or a welcoming solar snowman with a lantern.
Large pine cones, pine boughs & a stack of small, birch firewood bring winter authenticity to your decor. If you are looking for a DIY project idea, paint the pine cone scale tips white, then sprinkle with silver glitter.

Twinkle All the Way
You can always start with the standard strings of lights around your roof-line and ledges, but don’t forget that there are plenty of outdoor lighting accents to add some sparkle. A pair of sentimental lanterns or weatherproof Christmas ornaments on the porch. Or, a light-bearing snowman or adorable dogs tangled in Christmas lights for the front porch will do the trick.

From some really frugal DIYs such as ice lanterns and scrap wood gift boxes to Christmas ball laden garlands and wreaths, we have found some truly fabulous, festive, and frugal ways for you to decorate your outdoor space this Christmas.
15 Easy DIY Outdoor Christmas Decorating Ideas
I have several helpful tips to consider when making your own DIY outdoor Christmas decorating ideas. Let’s take a look.
- First, think of the look you want to go for. Are you aiming for fun and childish, with Santa characters and perhaps a reindeer or two? Or are you going for the more natural look, with fresh pine boughs and large ribbons? Whatever your style, try not to stray too far from it, and then check to see what you have stored away that you can use. Some of the ideas below are really great for up-cycling and re-purposing! It never hurts to make something old into something new when you’re doing DIY outdoor Christmas decorating.
- Hit up the local dollar and craft stores (and don’t forget flea markets!) for whatever goods you still need. Old sleighs, ice skates, and shovels make awesome décor ideas and can often be found for a great bargain!
- If you’re considering pine boughs for wreaths and garlands, opt for fresh ones! Find a friend with some trees on their property if you don’t have any – and try to secure some of the boughs from pruning season. And if you can’t find any locally, you can always get fresh pine boughs on Amazon.

Christmas Tip
Designer Tip: Your holiday decor doesn’t have to be limited to the tree and mantle. Get creative by placing a little festive cheer in unique places. One of our favorite tricks is utilizing vertical space! While the table top display would be cute on it’s own, using ornaments and a decorative banner to hang from the chandelier turns the whole dining area into a “moment”.

Christmas Color Scheme
Designer Tip: There are so many ways to do Christmas, and no wrong way. But if you are feeling stuck on which direction to go, start with the bones of your home: What staple colors, pieces of furniture, and feelings does your home exude? Build upon those colors and mood. Doing so will afford you more opportunities to incorporate every-day items into your decor.

Hello, everyone!
Isn’t Christmas the most beautiful time of the year? I can’t tell you how much I love decorating my home, getting everything ready, spending time with my family and truly enjoying the magic December brings.
I honestly hope this post could bring some of this “magic” to your heart today. I hope you felt happy and enchanted while seeing these beautiful pictures and ideas. But most of all, I hope the “Quote of Week” could tell you how I feel about Christmas… no gift under a Christmas tree can replace the love we feel for our loved ones. Focus on that before any decor, any food you prepare, any plan you might have. Our biggest attention should be focused on the people we love — that’s the best gift we can give to them.
Have a Blessed rest of week and weekend!
Many hugs to you all!
with Love,
