we can't... anything above 640 miles per hour we see as just a blur, depending on distance from us.

Sonic is fast but depending on the Flash he could steal Sonic's speed. Super Sonic also is temporary and would probably wear off before he made it around the world that many times. As normal Sonic he is not beating the Flash.

mach one, or the speed of sound is 1238 km/h
so lets compare those...
mach 1 = 1238 km/h
top speed of a F1 car = 369.9km/h
hold on, Mach 1 is nearly 1000Km/h faster than a F1 car

Like I said (in I think the second one) I don't see why him going as fast as light changes much. Maybe it's a physics thing I don't know about, but the people he could beat (or lose to) at speeds just under light would be the same as those he'd beat (or lose to) at light. That's part of the reason I don't see the big deal if he can hit light or not. Now if he were blazing past lightspeed easily then there'd be a significant difference in what he'd be capable of, but that wasn't the case.

FTL applications would be pretty much endless...
mainly i see combat applications, he's literally be able to hit someone several times, depending on how much faster than light he's going, while the other person was still seeing him where he was.
i'm guessing the speed force aura would protect him from the main problems of FTL travel, such as mass transference and quantum shifting... but the endless applications would be astounding. he would basically, again depending on the speed, be able to be in multiple places at once...

Full distance for race: 400,751,600 Km
basic equation: t = d / s
so time Flash takes to win the race: 0.37132318014781041919636580346824 (hour)
So just at the speed of light, Flash runs 400,751,600 Km in 37 minutes and 13 seconds
and before anyone asks, it's 07:26, i can't be arsed working out Sonic's time

The things you're mentioning are things he can already do/has done. He can hit people multiple times before they see him move and has been (in at least two instances I can clearly remember) in two places at once. What other kinds of tricks could he pull?

I'm quite sure that ijn Sonic Adventure 2, at the end of both storylines when you fight the "real" Shadow, when Sonic is Super-Sonic they have said he moves at light-speed....

and since then, me and Buckshot have gone through the latest issues carefully and calculated Flash's exact speed based on area travelled and time taken to estimate his true speed...

it doesn't actually come on instantly...
the lightswitch connects and circuit which allows the flow of electrons to reach the light. it's not instant by any means, but it's fast...

@ger0claps0goku: That's Wally West during Flash Forward. The point UltraPhoenix is making is Flash achieves virtual omnipresence with speed alone. Even characters that transcend time and space aren't omnipresent in Archie, and Sonic doesn't even scale to them. Super Sonic would scale above moving in stopped time (also maybe moving through time with speed alone) but that's not as impressive as what Flash showed.

Sonic Versus The Flash: Who Would Win?
The Flash versus Sonic the Hedgehog is a battle that's been debated constantly throughout both fanbases and can sometimes reach Goku versus Superman levels of debate. On the one side, there are the fastest men in all of DC. Whether it's Barry Allen or Wally West, it is important to know that they are both absolutely the fastest in their universe. While Sonic the Hedgehog is the fastest being alive in his universe and is capable of things that would make other speedsters blush with jealousy.

For the sake of comparison, it will use Barry Allen Flash as he is the most recognizable. Meanwhile, this will also use video game Sonic as Archie Comics's version of Sonic is absolutely absurd with what he is fully capable of.
10 Sonic: Naturally Fast
Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the fastest characters in all of fiction and all of that was the result of his own natural speed. No matter which version of the Blue Blur it is, Sonic the Hedgehog is fully capable of outpacing everyone and anyone for the most part.
This has remained true in his video games in particular, which have been claimed that he gets faster with each and every entry. It seems like his speed is unique as no one else is really able to catch up with him unless they're Shadow the Hedgehog or a robotic duplicate.
9 The Flash: Speed Force
Barry Allen is the second Flash in the pantheon and he is quite spectacular as a speedster. Fully capable of outpacing a variety of heroes such as all versions of Superman and really only being surpassed by his successor Wally West, all of this was thanks to the Speed Force.
What makes him unique compared to the others though is that Barry Allen himself generates it which allows him to do some things that other speedsters cannot. Although his successor is more connected from a spiritual standpoint, Barry Allen has just enough experience to pull it off.
8 Sonic: Chaos Emeralds
The Chaos Emeralds are the iconic items that Sonic the Hedgehog obtains within each level. They are superempowered emeralds that allow Sonic the Hedgehog to do loads of abilities.
Although he isn't as proficient with some of it such as Shadow the Hedgehog is, and he doesn't always have it in his disposal, he does have enough knowledge to use them to do things like Chaos Control or turn into his Super form which allows him to go even faster and is much stronger.
7 The Flash: Time Travel
Although speedsters like Sonic or The Flash are known for their time travel endeavors at times, no one has ever done it quite like Barry Allen.
Infamously a meme at this point, Barry Allen had done the iconic time travel thing of creating the Flashpoint Paradox which effectively created a whole new timeline/earth. The fact that Barry Allen is capable of doing this can create incredibly dangerous ripple effects on his enemies.
6 Sonic: Power-Ups

5 The Flash: Molecule Vibration
As useful as these power-ups are, it can only work if Sonic has a way to beat out Flash's phasing ability. By moving his molecules at super speed, The Flash is capable of phasing through objects.

By extension, this means he is able to phase through enemy punches and can even phase through objects through a multitude of buildings. He can also use phasing in an offensive manner as he can physically go through enemies but it isn't something that he is the most comfortable doing.
4 Sonic: H2H Combat
Although he doesn't use it very often, Sonic the Hedgehog is an incredible hand to hand combatant, capable of fighting against loads of enemies. Not just by using the use of his speed, he is able to beat out characters such as Emeryl who is a master combatant.
What's more, he is a master of Lin Shao Kung Fu and was fully capable of surpassing even that. In comparison, The Flash has always been more of a brawler who uses his speed to his advantage which might not fully work against someone like Sonic the Hedgehog.
3 The Flash: Can Break Through Dimensional Barriers
The Flash's speed is incredible and if he is willing to cut loose, is fully capable of breaking through more than just the sound barrier. The Flash is fully capable of breaking through a variety of barriers from light to the aforementioned time barrier.
However, if the Flash goes all the way, he is fully capable of breaking through the Speed Force barrier which is beyond anything Sonic the Hedgehog is ever able to cross who was only able to break through the time barrier at most. His speed is so great that he is capable of traveling to different realities.
2 Sonic: Multiple Super Forms
The trump card that Sonic the Hedgehog often employs against his final bosses, at least in the modern era, is that he's able to transform into a variety of different forms thanks to an external means, whether that is Super Sonic or even Hyper Sonic with the Super Emeralds.

But outside of those forms, he is able to use things like Dark Spine Sonic and Excalibur Sonic form. All of which were extremely powerful or versatile forms that are fully capable of doing loads of damage. The downside is the time limit that it may have.
1 The Flash: Speed Mind
Probably Barry Allen's greatest asset is his Speed mind ability. Introduced during the New 52 era of DC Comics, this allows Barry Allen to straight-up calculate any possibility imaginable as well as bring him closer to the Speed Force. Without that in mind, Barry Allen is capable of thinking within less than an Attosecond which is absurd.
But with Speed Mind, he is fully capable of dragging anyone within the Speed Force which mentioned before is something that Barry himself generates with every step he takes, thereby theoretically keeping someone there forever.

Sonic vs The Flash: Who Would Win?
Hey Sonic Amino, it's me Nova!
Today I've decided to make a blog, putting two of the most famous speedsters in existence on a 1v1 race. These two are none other then the blue blur Sonic the Hedgehog and Barry Allen, AKA the Flash.
Who will come out on top? Well, I'll do the research, and then the answer should come out clear as the if day.

Part 1: Introduction
Two of the fastest characters in existence going head to head, it's unfortunate we don't have a definite result. However, with enough research, we can estimate the result of the race ourselves.
I will be using only one version of each character, these being the Archie version of Sonic, and the Barry Allen iteration of The Flash.
Part 2: Brief Character Overview
Sonic
Sonic the Hedgehog is the fastest know Mobian, and he's put his speed to work. For years, Sonic has put and end to the evil Dr Eggman's schemes along with his countless friends. Blue and with an attitude no one can match (not counting the recent games because the writing sucks ass), Sonic has only gained popularity since his first game over 26 years ago.
The Flash
Barry Allen, AKA The Flash, was born along with a twin brother, who unfortunately was born stillbirthed. (Or was beloved to be, until it was discovered he was adopted by another family) When Barry was a child, his mother was killed and his Father was convicted of the murder. Barry of course wanted to prove his father's innocence, which started Barry's strong belief of justice. In his adulthood Barry was working with chemicals during an electrical storm, and for whatever reason, an electrical bolt went through the open window and smashed the chemicals, covering Barry in electrified chemicals and gaining him access to the speed force.
Part 3: Top Speed
Working out the speed both characters can travel will help us tremendously in working out who would win in a race.
Sonic
For Sonic, we can measure his speed using multiple issues of the Archie comics series. According to a user on r/SonicTheHedgehog, in issue #175 of the Sonic The Hedgehog run, he was seen running an approximate distance of 2,665 km in around 15 seconds. This measures up to Sonic running over 639,600 km/h, which is insane. With the speed of sound being around 1234.8km/h. This means Sonic can be seen going an extreme pace of Mach 517.98.
The Flash
For Flash, we can also use his appearance in comics to our advantage. Using this comic strip as an example, a Quora user has done wonders in figuring out how fast The Flash has been able to run.
At 13:57 local time, a low-yield nuclear missile went off in a region of North Korea. 0.000001 microseconds later, all citizens were moved out of the blast radius, with Barry carrying either 1 or 2 people at a time. "How is this even possible?" You may be asking yourself. Well, here's the research I found (what, you actually expected me to do this myself?)
Basically, the Flash would have had to run an extreme total of 3,995,468,459,136,000,000 km/h.
If we compare this speed to the speed of light, that mean Barry Allen totalled a whopping 13 trillion times faster than the speed of light itself.
Part 4. The Final Verdict
Using all the information above, the top speed total is:
Sonic = Mach 517.98
The Flash = Mach 20921471999998.328
Overall, The Flash is the clear winner hear, and could easily beat Sonic at top speed. Although they are both extremely fast, The Flash proved he could run impossible speeds, even to that Archie Sonic couldn't keep up with.
