Ranking The 15 Best Minecraft Dungeons Armor Sets

In Minecraft Dungeons your armor helps to establish your role in the game. As there is no class system in place, your strengths and weaknesses are variable depending on the combination of armor, weapons, artifacts, and enchants you employ. Due to this, it can be helpful to have several sets of armor on hand to swap and change, but which are the best?

We take a look at the different armor types and rank the very best armor sets available right now. While they all serve different purposes, some are more useful overall, easier to get hold of, or just plain overpowered.

Updated January 15th, 2021, By Helen Ashcroft: Since the release of Minecraft Dungeons we've seen three new DLC packs. These are Jungle Awakens, Creeping Winter, and Howling Peaks. As more content is added more armor sets have also made their way into the game.

To take into account the new armor sets in these packs, as well as some others that have turned out to be more useful than first thought, we've updated this list and added new recommendations for the very best pieces of armor in Minecraft Dungeons.

15 Climbing Gear

Climbing Gear was introduced with the Howling Peaks DLC and is quite situational but incredibly useful for navigating the new content. The basic gear includes an artifact cooldown bonus as well as pushback resistance. It can be found in Colossal Rampart and Windswept Peaks.

There are two Unique variants. The Rugged Climbing Gear gives you environmental damage resistance and freezing resistance as well as the artifact cooldown boost. If you want to keep to pushback resistance then Goat Gear offers this plus an extra roll and the artifact boost.

14 Snow Armor

The Snow Armor is the Creeping Winter DLC and has a Unique variant called Frost Armor. It offers damage reduction and freezing resistance, which is incredibly helpful in the DLC, especially when exploring unknown areas. The Frost Armor also emits a chilling aura.

You can pick up Snow Armor from Lone Fortress and Lost Settlement or acquire it from a luxury merchant.

13 Thief Armor

Thief Armor provides a nice melee attack boost but comes into its own if you can find a Unique Spider Armor set which also includes a life steal aura. It may not be as powerful as some armor sets but it's still incredibly versatile.

Related: 5 Ways That Minecraft Dungeons Is Better Than Diablo (& 5 Ways It's Worse)

You'll find it in Desert Temple, Red Stone Mines, and Overgrown Temple. It can also be found in the supplies of the luxury and village merchants.

12 Evocation Robe

If you're a ranged player who prefers artifacts to arrows then the Evocation Robe is a solid choice. It will provide a reduction to artifact cooldown, giving greater versatility to a lineup of magical artifacts. The robe also provides a movement speed aura, helping you get out of the way of danger quicker. The Unique, Verdant Robe, also increases your maximum souls and gives a +1 to your soul gathering.

Soul Robes drop in Soggy Swamp, Soggy Cave, Obsidian Pinnacle, and Panda Plateau and are also available from the village merchant making them easy to acquire.

11 Ocelot Armor

Ocelot Armor came with the Jungle Awakens DLC and offers damage reduction and a faster roll speed. If you can get your hands on the Shadow Walker Unique it also gives you brief invulnerability while you roll which is useful for getting out of difficult situations.

You can find Ocelot Armor in the Dingy Jungle and Overgrown Temple and equipping it will make your character look great. Sadly, that doesn't offer any extra benefit.

10 Mercenary Armor

Mercenary Armor is perfect for players who want to be in the middle of the action. It provides a dual boost of damage reduction and an increase in weapon damage. This makes it much safer to stand in groups of mobs. The Mercenary Armor is a common drop but the Unique version is worth seeking out as it adds a 25% melee attack speed buff, greatly increasing its power.

Related: 10 Tips To Make An Overpowered Character In Minecraft Dungeons

You'll find Mercenary Armor in Cacti Canyon, Fiery Forge, Arch Haven, Overgrown Temple, and Soggy Swamp daily trials. The village, Luxury, and Mystery Merchants also carry it.

9 Battle Robe

The Battle Robe is a versatile piece of armor. It will increase your melee damage and reduce the cooldown on your artifacts. While it doesn't protect as well as some armor sets, your increased damage will help shorten battles.

This is a great choice for those who want a little flexibility and some extra DPS to bring to the table. The Unique variant will also add 30% to your melee damage.

Find it in Creepy Crypt, Redstone Mines, Fristed Fjord, Colossal Rampart, and in the inventory of Luxury, Mystery, and Village merchants.

8 Grim Armor

Grim Armor is a strong choice for players looking to build a character that utilizes soul harvesting. It offers a huge boost to soul gathering, meaning soul-based artifacts will gain more power quicker. It also contains a life-stealing aura and the Unique version, Wither Armor, will also give damage reduction.

You can find Grim Armor in Desert Temple, Obsidian Pinnacle, and in Cacti Canyon daily trials. It's also available from the village merchant.

7 Champion's Armor

If you truly want to tank then look out for Champion's armor. It will provide you with a health boost, damage reduction buff, a chance to revive on death, and will encourage mobs to attack you more. All perfect tanking bonuses.

Related: Minecraft Dungeons: 10 Hilarious Memes Only True Fans Understand

This armor is the closest you can get to a tank class and it's incredibly powerful, especially when combined with the right weapons, artifacts, and enchants. The Unique version, Hero's Armor, also allows health potions to heal nearby allies.

Find it in Cacti Canyon, Arch Haven, and Lone Fortress. Village and mystery merchants also have Champion's armor but it can only be picked up in apocalypse, making it hard to get hold of.

6 Dark Armor

Dark Armor will help with soul gathering and also contains a damage reduction buff which is incredibly helpful for survivability. It's a strong addition to a soul gathering setup but there are more powerful options overall. Titan's Shroud, the Unique, also gives a 20% weapon damage boost aura.

You can find Dark Armor in Fiery Forge, Underhalls, and Lost Settlement in Apocalypse or from the village merchant.

5 Hunter's Armor

The Hunter's armor set is a frequent and easy to find drop that's a must for any archer class lovers. As a ranged player, you'll find the biggest issue you have is arrows. It's here that the hunter's armor comes into its own. Not only does the armor offer a buff to ranged damage but it also gives you an extra 10 arrows per bundle, which is almost 50% extra, since a bundle is 25. The Unique also offers a move speed aura.

Hunter's armor is found in Pumpkin pastures, Creeper Woods. Creepy Crypt and from the village, luxury and mystery merchants.

4 Phantom Armor

Phantom Armor offers a soul gathering boost as well as a bonus to ranged damage. This makes it a great choice for soul builds that rely on ranged weapons. The Unique, Frost Bite, will also summon a cute Snowy companion that can take the heat off a little if you are soloing.

Related: The 10 Best Minecraft Dungeons Armor Enchantments, Ranked

You'll find Phantom Armor in Redstone Mines, Creepy Crypt, Soggy Cave, and Frosted Fjord so it's easier to lay your hands on than some other options with similar buffs.

3 Soul Robe

Soul gatherers should keep an eye out for the Soul Robe. It offers a boost to soul collecting as well as a power boost to artifacts, a combination you can't refuse. There's no need to worry about healing if you combine this with a soul-based healing artifact. The Unique Souldancer Robe also offers a chance to negate hits.

Soul Robes can be found in Highblock Halls, Underhalls, Lone Fortress, and Creeper Woods as well as from the village merchant.

2 Spelunker Armor

Spelunker Armor not only looks good but it will also give your character a boost to all weapon damage as well as summoning a bat to fight by your side. This makes it incredibly versatile and cool looking. As if that wasn't enough, if you can grab the unique Cave Crawler version then you'll also gain a huge boost to your artifact power, giving you the best of all worlds.

You can find Spelunker Armor in Redstone Mines, Cacti Canyon, Lost Settlement, Windswept Peaks, and from village and mystery merchants.

1 Wolf Armor

Wolf Armor is one of the most versatile options in the game. Its weapon damage boost aura increases your strength regardless of which weapon you use and the ability for health potions to heal nearby allies means you can boost your party as you heal yourself.

There are two Unique variants of Wolf Armor in the main game. The first is Fox Armor that also adds a chance to negate hits, incredibly useful for those relying on damage over armor. The Black Wolf Armor is more situational, adding a reduced roll cooldown.

All variants are available from Creeper Woods, Redstone Mines, and Lost Settlement as well as from luxury and mystery merchants. This makes Wolf Armor easy to acquire and a fantastic all-rounder.

Best Minecraft Enchantments for Everything (Updated 2021)

Most tools, weapons, and armor in Minecraft can be enchanted. Enchantments can be added to your gear using experience levels or enchanted books at an anvil. They are very useful in the game and will improve your gear and tools with better survivability, utility, speed, durability, and more. Enchanting goes hand in hand with potions and brewing for buffing your character.

Although certain enchantments will be better for certain situations, you can follow our list here for the best overall enchantments in Minecraft (for each piece of equipment).

Best Minecraft Armor Enchantments

The following enchantments can be used on all types of armor (Helmets, Chestplates, Leggings, and Boots):

  • Protection IV – All armor pieces should have this enchant. Each level of this enchant adds a 4% reduction in damage. For example, Protection II adds 8% (Level 2 * 4%) damage reduction, and Protection IV adds 16% (Level 4 * 4%) damage reduction. If all four of your armor pieces have Protection IV, you will take 64% less damage.
  • Mending – Automatically repairs your armor using experience orbs. For example, killing a zombie would drop XP orbs and automatically repair your armor (at a rate of 2 durability per 1 xp). This enchant is very useful, and can only be obtained from finding mending enchant books (dungeon chests, fishing, trading, etc). You can’t enchant mending using an enchanting table.
  • Unbreaking III – Armor lasts longer before breaking from durability. At level III unbreaking, each armor piece will last about 40% longer before breaking or needing repairs.

Notes on other enchants:

  • It is possible to replace Protection IV with other damage reducing enchants, but they are only helpful in specific situations whereas Protection IV is helpful in all situations.
  • Thorns III is an enchant that damages attackers. It makes your armor break more quickly, so it is not worth using in most cases.

Helmet

  • Protection IV, Mending, and Unbreaking III
  • Aqua Affinity – Allows you to mine and dig underwater at normal speeds. Without this enchant, you mine 5x slower while swimming.
  • Respiration III – Extends your underwater breathing time by 45 seconds. You will be able to swim underwater for longer periods of time when using this enchant.

Chest

  • Protection IV, Mending, and Unbreaking III
  • No other enchants need to be added.

Leggings

  • Protection IV, Mending, and Unbreaking III
  • No other enchants need to be added.

Boots

  • Protection IV, Mending, and Unbreaking III
  • Feather Falling IV – Reduces falling damage by about 50%. When stacked with Protection IV on at least two pieces of armor, a maximum fall damage reduction of 80% can be achieved.
  • Depth Strider III OR Frost Walker II – Only one of these can be on your boots, pick one depending on what you prefer. Depth Strider lets you swim faster, and at level III you can swim as fast as you walk on land. Frost Walker allows you to walk on water by turning water into ice when you step on it. Frost walker also removes damage when walking on magma blocks and campfires.

Best Minecraft Enchantments for Weapons and Tools

Just like armor, Unbreaking III and Mending should be put on all weapons and tools where possible. One special exception is the bow, as you cannot have the Infinity (infinite free arrows) enchant if you have mending. More on this in the bow section below.

Sword

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • Sharpness V – Increases damage done by 3 (Java Edition) or 6.25 (Bedrock Edition). Very useful enchant for increasing melee damage.
    • Smite V – Can be helpful by increasing damage done to undead mobs, but cannot be used if you add Sharpness V to your sword. Its typically better to pick Sharpness V because it increases damage against all enemies.
  • Sweeping Edge III – Increases sweeping damage done by 75%. Note: This enchant is unavailable in the Bedrock edition of Minecraft.
  • Looting III – Increases item drops from mobs (does not increase xp drops). Very useful enchant, especially for things like wither skeleton skull farming.

The following enchants are optional, depending on your preferences and play style: Fire Aspect II (sets enemies on fire), Knockback II (pushes enemies away when you hit them – can be helpful or very annoying).

Axe

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • Sharpness V – Just like swords, increases melee damage done significantly.
    • Axes can also have Smite V to increase damage against undead mobs, but it can’t be used with Sharpness V. Recommended to just use Sharpness, unless you prefer having increased damage only against undead mobs.
  • Efficiency V – Significantly increases woodcutting speed, an absolute must if you are using the axe for chopping down trees as opposed to just for combat.
  • Silk Touch or Fortune III – Pick one of these two depending on what you prefer. For axes specifically, they are not entirely necessary. Silk touch makes blocks drop their original form, for example if you break a grass block it will drop grass blocks instead of dirt. Fortune III increases item drops only, for example if you break leaves you will get more saplings and apples (but not more wood, as this is a block).

Pickaxe

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • Fortune III or Silk Touch – You will have to pick either Fortune III or Silk Touch for your pickaxe, as you can only have one or the other. Fortune III is almost always the better option, as it increases mining drops (diamonds, redstone dust, lapis lazuli, emeralds, and so on). Fortune III does not increase drops of blocks such as ancient debris / netherite or gold ore blocks, only items. Silk Touch will allow you to mine things like stone blocks (instead of cobblestone), which can be useful for building things like castles.
  • Efficiency V – Significantly increases mining speed, to help you break blocks more quickly. This Minecraft enchantment will drastically improve your mining speed and is highly recommended.

Shovel

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • Efficiency V – A must have, the efficiency enchant significantly increases digging speed. At high Efficiency enchant levels, you will basically instantly dig up any dirt you click on!
  • Silk Touch – Will allow you to harvest things like grass blocks (instead of dirt blocks), snow, ice, etc. Only necessary if you need these blocks, otherwise you can skip this enchant.

Hoe

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • Since a hoe is mainly used for tilling dirt into farmland, additional enchants are not entirely necessary. You will be perfectly find with just Unbreaking III.
  • It is possible to add on Efficiency V, Silk Touch, or Fortune III to a hoe, if desired.

Fishing Rod

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • Luck of the Sea III – Reduces the chance of finding “junk” while fishing, and increases chance of finding treasure. The Luck of the Sea enchant will improve your loot while fishing.
  • Lure III – Increases the speed at which you attract fish to your bobble. This Minecraft enchantment will increase the amount of fish and treasure you can catch per hour.

Shears

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • Efficiency V – Greatly increases speed at which the shears break blocks.
  • Silk Touch – Will allow you to harvest leaf blocks from trees. Very useful if you need leaves for building shrubs, gardens, fake trees, fountains and so on.

Bow

  • Unbreaking III
  • Power V – Increases arrow damage from a bow. Recommended for killing monsters more quickly.
  • Infinity – An amazing enchant for bows, you definitely want to add this one on. Infinity allows you to shoot infinite arrows, without using any arrows. You will be able to use your bow as much as you want but note that you must have at least one arrow in your inventory still. Also note that you cannot add the mending enchantment to a bow if it has infinity.
  • Flame – Sets your arrows on fire, which causes additional damage to targets. Flame arrows cannot set blocks such as trees or wood on fire, they will only set targets (mobs, animals, other players) on fire. The Flame enchantment does not work when it is raining.
  • Punch II – Optional, the Punch enchant will “knock back” targets when they are hit by an arrow. The Punch enchantment can be slightly annoying, and it is up to your preference if you want it on your bow.

Crossbow

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • Quick Charge III – Reduces the time it takes to reload your crossbow. This enchant makes a crossbow reload more quickly and similarly to a bow.
  • Piercing IV or Multishot – You can only have one of these two Minecraft enchants on a crossbow. Multishot will allow you to shoot 3 arrows while only consuming one arrow. Piercing IV allows your arrows to shoot through entities, hitting multiple enemies at one time. In general, Piercing is usually the better enchant for crossbows.

Trident

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • Impaling V – Increases damage caused by the trident. Recommended to be added to all tridents.
  • Loyalty III and Channeling, OR Riptide III only – You will have to pick adding Loyalty III AND Channeling, OR Riptide III alone. Loyalty will automatically return the trident to you after throwing it. Riptide III will let you use your trident as a means of transportation, by moving your character to the location that you throw it.

Shield

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • No other additional enchants can be added, other than Mending and Unbreaking III.

Flint and Steel

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • No other additional enchants can be added, other than Mending and Unbreaking III.

Elytra

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • No other additional enchants can be added, other than Mending and Unbreaking III.

Carrot on a Stick

  • Unbreaking III and Mending
  • No other additional enchants can be added, other than Mending and Unbreaking III.

For the armor that can be worn by adult horses, see Horse Armor. For the feature in Minecraft Dungeons, see MCD:Armor.

"Chainmail" redirects here. For the armor material, see Armor materials.

Armor is a category of items that provide players and certain mobs with varying levels of protection from common damage types, and appear graphically on the wearer. These items include several different tiers of helmets, chestplates, leggings, and boots, which can each be placed in designated armor slots of a player's inventory for use.

Obtaining[]

Crafting[]

A full set of armor consists of 24 units of a given material. A turtle shell is a helmet with no corresponding armor pieces. Despite there being chain items, chainmail armor cannot be crafted. A full suit of Netherite armor needs 4 units of Netherite ingots (16 netherite scraps and 16 gold ingots); obtaining netherite armor requires combining a diamond armor piece with a netherite ingot using a smithing table.

Armor can be repaired by placing two pieces of the same type (e.g., iron helmets) in a grindstone or in the crafting grid. The resulting item has 5% more durability left than the original items combined, if the total durability of both of the armor pieces is more than the total durability that a piece of armor would have fresh from a crafting table, but any enchantments are lost. Repairing armor with an anvil preserves and combines the enchantments, with a rising experience cost for subsequent repairs on the same item.

The 15 Most Powerful Unique Pieces Of Armor In Minecraft Dungeons

Minecraft Dungeons is full of enchanted armor sets that fans can obtain while dungeon diving in the different levels within the game. Some of these unique armor pieces offer powerful effects such as damage buffs and even spawnable pets to aid players when they're in a battle with enemies.

RELATED: 10 Things That Minecraft Dungeons Gets Wrong From The Franchise

Some pieces of armor are more powerful than others and are only obtainable from specific locations that players will have to farm in if they wish to obtain the item for themselves. Regardless of how difficult it is to get some of these powerful armor pieces, it's definitely worth it because of how strong they are. A lot of armor in Minecraft Dungeons can only be obtained from powerful bosses.

Updated April 24, 2021, by Michael Caruso: Minecraft Dungeons has received multiple updates and DLC packs in the past year, and with each new content update, there have been new weapons, armor, and dungeons added into the game. These DLC packs include Creeping Winter, Howling Peaks, Flames Of The Nether, and Jungle Awakens. To keep this article in line with all of the new content, here are 5 of the best new pieces of unique armor that have been added through updates and DLC packs, along with their effects and where to find them.

15 Beehive Armor

Beehive Armor was added into the game with the Lost Settlement DLC, and it is one of the best sets for players that put damage reduction above all else. Not only does beehive armor spawn in a bee when an enemy hits the player, but it also grants a 35 percent damage reduction and grants healing to players in the vicinity when a potion is used.

The Beehive Armor is found in Pumpkin Pastures, Soggy Cave, and the Lost Settlement daily trials.

14 Ghost Kindler

The Ghost Kindler armor is perfect for a pyromancer because it deals fire damage to enemies while rolling, which is a mechanic that is used frequently in Minecraft Dungeons. It also grants a 30 percent chance to negate an attack completely, which is incredibly useful for players that aren't built like tanks.

RELATED: Minecraft Dungeons: The 10 Strongest Enemies, Ranked

The Ghost Kindler armor can be obtained from a few different locations; Redstone Mines, Creepy Crypt, Overgrown Temple, and Gale Sanctum.

13 Titan's Shroud

Titan's Shroud is a unique set of armor that has 3 very distinct effects. It grants 50 percent more souls gathered, 35 percent damage reduction, and a 20 percent boost to the weapon damage aura. These effects aren't especially powerful by themselves; however, when they are all equipped on a single piece of armor, they are quite strong.

To obtain Titan's Shroud, the player can farm in Underhalls, Fiery Forge, and the Lost Settlement.

12 Splendid Robe

The Splendid Robe is the perfect set of armor for battle mages in Minecraft Dungeons. It gives -40 percent artifact cooldown, 30 percent more melee damage, and 50 percent more artifact damage. The final effect is incredibly powerful while using artifacts.

There are a plethora of different locations where the Splendid Robe can be found, including Creepy Crypt, Redstone Mines, Colossal Rampart, and Frosted Fjord.

11 Hero's Armor

There are 4 separate effects that the Hero's Armor grants, which include 40 percent faster cooldown for potions, potions heal nearby teammates, enemies target the wearer more, and 30 percent damage reduction. This armor set also has a unique appearance as well.

Obtaining the Hero's Armor isn't too difficult; it can be found in Arch Haven, Lone Fortress, and Cacti Canyon.

10 Archer's Armor

The Archer's Armor gives the player a speed buff, more arrows in every bundle, and extra ranged damage done. This item is found while adventuring in Creeper Woods within a gold chest.

As evident by the title of this armor piece, players should use this if they are trying to build an Archer build that will utilize the bow and archery enchantments more than any other weapon at their disposal. The speed buff will be immensely useful when trying to gain distance between an enemy and the player.

9 Ember Robe

The Ember Robe gives players a movement speed buff, artifact cooldown bonus, and it burns enemies that are in the range of the player for extra damage. This item is found as loot within Soggy Swamp, Obsidian Pinnacle, and Soggy Cave.

RELATED: The 10 Best Minecraft Dungeons Armor Enchantments, Ranked

The most notable part of this armor piece is the fact that it burns enemies that get close to the player, which is a unique effect that the Ember Robe is known for. Fans that are looking for a fire mage build should use the ember robe without a doubt.

8 Spider Armor

The Spider Armor gives players a life steal aura enchantment and makes melee weapon attacks faster. This item can be found as loot while exploring the Desert Temple or Redstone mines.

The life steal aura on the Spider Armor will be immensely helpful when dealing with large swarms of enemies, and the faster melee attacks will aid players that use heavier and slower to swing weapons.

7 Stalwart Armor

The effects on the Stalwart Armor boosts defense when a potion is used, a large damage reduction buff, a chance to negate enemy attacks entirely, and a negative trait: twice as long dodge roll cool down. Stalwart Armor has a chance to drop as loot in Fiery Forge.

RELATED: 10 Features That Minecraft Dungeons Is Missing

Unfortunately, the twice as long dodge roll cooldown will only be a negative effect; however, the positive effects on this item make up for the downsides of the Stalwart Armor. The most notable thing about the Stalwart Armor is the defense boost when a potion is used because when a player uses a potion, they usually need a little bit of time to center themselves since their health was very low.

6 Cave Crawler

The Cave Crawler set gives players a damage increase aura, a large increase in damage dealt with artifacts, and it also gives the player a pet bat to fight for them in combat. Players should farm Redstone Mines and Cacti Canyon to obtain this item.

The amount of extra damage that players will gain from the Cave Crawler item allows for swift takedowns of more tanky enemies, and the pet bat is a completely unique feature that players will only gain when they wear this armor. Players that enjoy using pets in Minecraft Dungeons should farm for this item.

5 Fox Armor

The Fox Armor gives players a chance to avoid attacks, boost the damage aura, and using health potions will heal allies within the player's vicinity as well. Redstone Mines, Creeper Woods, and Moo! all have a chance to drop the Fox Armor.

RELATED: 10 Things That Make No Sense In Minecraft Dungeons

The Fox Armor is great for a speedy character that enjoys using swiftness to entirely dodge enemy attacks. The damage boost and healing allies with potion effects will also be helpful when players are trying to aid their teammates in combat.

4 Frost Bite

The Frost Bite armor grants players extra ranged damage with bows, extra souls collected upon the death of enemies, and allows the player to use a spawnable Snow Golem to fight by their side. Players can obtain this item from loot within Soggy Cave, Redstone Mines, and Creepy Crypt.

The Frost Bite armor is great for dealing extra damage with the bow weapon and collecting souls from defeated enemies; however, the best part of this armor is the snow golem that spawns when players are in need of help. The Frost Bite armor is yet another great item that players that want more pets should use.

3 Wither Armor

The Wither Armor gives players 100% more souls per enemy dead, a life steal aura, and a large damage reduction buff during combat. Players can farm Obsidian Pinnacle and Desert Temple to obtain the Wither Armor.

The extra souls collected and life steal Aura are common on armor enchantments; however, the damage reduction buff is one of the best parts of the Wither Armor, and fans should farm it if they are looking for a tanky item with no downside.

2 Renegade Armor

The Renegade Armor grants players a damage reduction buff, faster attacks with melee weapons, and a damage buff aura around the player. Arch Haven, Fiery Forge, and Cacti Canyon all drop the Renegade Armor.

The Renegade Armor is useful for players that deal lots of damage with only a few swings of their weapon and also for players that are trying to build a character that deals more damage than they can take because of effects such as the damage buff aura.

1 Highland Armor

The Highland Armor grants a melee weapon damage buff, a damage reduction effect, and gives the player faster movement speed for a few seconds after dodge rolling. Pumpkin Pastures and Fiery Forge are where adventurers can farm for a chance to get their hands on this armor.

The Highland armor is considered to be one of the best armor pieces in Minecraft Dungeons because of its unique effect to offer much faster speed after dodge rolling combined with the extra damage and damage reduction effects. Farming for the Highland armor is worth it, even if it does take a while to get the perfect piece, because it is definitely one of the best items in the game.

Powerful in most minecraft armor

What is the strongest armor in Minecraft?

Minecraft armor comes in six different varieties. The six different types are leather, gold, iron, diamond, chain mail, and netherite.

Each of these armors can be crafted using items around the Minecraft world.

Leather armor is crafted from leather. This armor is not very durable, but it can add additional protection for players. Players can obtain leather by killing certain animals. Leather can also be found inside chests.

Golden armor may be shiny and pretty, but it is not very good for players to use for protection in Minecraft. It does not have much durability, so it just wears out pretty fast.

Iron armor is pretty good for players to use in the game. It is quite easy to find iron in Minecraft. This armor is pretty durable, so players will not have to craft another set for a little while.

Chain mail armor is one of the rarest armors in Minecraft. It cannot be crafted in Minecraft and can only be found as a treasure item. This item does not add a lot of protection to players.

Diamond armor is one of the best armor in Minecraft. Players can find diamonds inside caves, ravines, and village chests in Minecraft.

Netherite armor happens to be the best armor in Minecraft but is very rare.

Netherite armor in Minecraft

Netherite

Netherite armor is the strongest armor in Minecraft, but it is not easy to find. Players will only get Netherite from one place: the Nether.

Netherite ingots are needed to create Netherite armor. Players can only get Netherite ingots by mining them or crafting them using four Nether scraps.

Nether scraps are crafted using four ancient debris blocks in Minecraft (another rare Nether block.) Nether scraps can be found in Minecraft but are not likely to be found around Nether chests.

Players will also need four golden ingots in order to craft a netherite ingot. Players can find gold fairly easily around the Minecraft world.

How to craft Netherite armor

Diamonds

Players can find diamonds in caves, ravines, and chests around the Minecraft world (Image via IGN)

Players will first need to craft diamond armor in order to upgrade to Netherite. One netherite ingot will create one piece of Netherite armor. Players can only upgrade diamond armor to Netherite.

Players can find diamonds in caves, ravines, and chests around the Minecraft world. Diamond armor can be crafted using a crafting table in Minecraft and is the only kind that is upgradable to Netherite.

Anvil

The only tool that can be used to create Netherite armor is an anvil (Image via Minecraft)

Also Read

Players will need an anvil to upgrade armor pieces to Netherite. Players cannot create Netherite armor by using a crafting table. The only tool that can be used to create Netherite armor is an anvil.

Players can create an anvil using four iron ingots and three blocks of iron. Players will need to place the diamond armor on the left side of the anvil, the ingot in the middle, and the finishing product on the right.

Our Minecraft Best Enchantments Guide features all the top options for enchanting your Armor, Crossbow, Sword, Pickaxe, Bow, Axe, Shovel, Elytra, Fishing Pole, and even your Trident! If you're looking to get the most out of your enchantments in Minecraft, then we've got all the information you'll need.

Best Minecraft Enchantments

These enchantments can apply to all tools, weapons, and armor. For this reason, and that they are massively convenient when applied, we have marked them as the best overall enchantments in the game.

  • Mending: If you want your gear to last much longer, be sure to attach Mending. Its primary purpose is to replenish your gear's durability by absorbing the XP dropped from each mob. This makes it one of the most convenient enchantments because it fixes your gear without having to spend valuable resources. If you have this enchantment and use it at a semi-automatic mob grinder, your equipment will never run out of durability.
  • Unbreaking: This enchantment is best used in tandem with Mending, but it is a solid option by itself. Unbreaking makes it so your gear might not lose durability when you use it (or, for when it's applied to armor: when you take damage). This enchantment is perfect for both early-game and end-game since it saves you precious resources.

Best Armor Enchantments in Minecraft

Enchanted armor in Minecraft

All Armor

  • Protection: This is a must for every piece of armor you have, because it gives you four additional points of armor for each piece you have enchanted. Protection IV drastically decreases the amount of damage you receive from most sources (except status effects like poison and fire). It's best to have it on all four pieces of armor you wear to make sure you're protected both in and out of battle.
  • Thorns: Thorns III will be a thorn in the side of any would-be attackers on a PVP server. It doesn't serve a lot of purpose in a solo Minecraft world, but once another player on a PVP server finds out you have it, they will think twice about attacking you. This enchantment deals significant damage to anyone that strikes you with a melee attack.

Helmet

Using the right helmet can be exceptionally convenient when if you frequently find yourself in water. Minecraft version 1.17 added Wet Caves to the game, which are caves filled with water. That makes the enchantments listed below far more useful! They don't serve a lot of purpose outside of that, so if you can't get any of the enchantments below, we strongly recommend enchanting your helmet with the enchantments listed in the All Armor section above.

  • Respiration: This enchantment helps you hold your breath underwater for an extended period. It's very useful if you are harvesting coral or exploring oceans.
  • Aqua Affinity: Aqua Affinity is crucial for players that need to go deep-sea diving for resources and Ocean Monuments. It removes the penalty to your mining speed for mining underwater.

Boots

  • Depth Strider: Boots with Depth Strider are best used with a Helmet that either has Aqua Affinity, Respiration, or both. Depth Strider removes the speed penalty for swimming underwater and gives your character much more maneuverability while swimming.
  • Frost Walker: This creates frosted ice block when you walk over water. If you are on an island map, or you simply don't enjoy going underwater in Minecraft, this is a good enchantment to have. However, outside of this scenario, we would recommend having Feather Falling for your general day-to-day Minecraft play.
  • Feather Falling: With the changes to Minecraft in version 1.17 (the Caves & Cliffs update), Feather Falling is an essential enchantment overall. Cliffs appear more often and some of them have higher drops, and caves pose a much greater threat. You can ease these complications with Feather Falling, which makes it so any fall damage you take is drastically reduced. With Feather Falling IV, you can drop from the max world height and still not die!

Shield

There are few enchantments that you can apply to shields. You can apply the Curse Of Vanishing enchantment, but that only stops other players from picking up the shield if you die. The Mending and Unbreaking enchantments mentioned above will be the best options you have for enchanting this piece of equipment.

Best Weapon Enchantments in Minecraft

Enchanted Weapons in Minecraft

Swords

  • Sharpness/Smite: With Sharpness V or Smite V, your melee damage is greatly increased. Sharpness I and Smite I provide little help, so we recommend only seeking this enchantment if you can use the best tier. With Sharpness V, you can one-shot (kill with one melee attack) most living mobs. With Smite V, you can one-shot most undead mobs like Zombies and Skeletons.
  • Looting: Looting III is crucial to end-game items and resources. It not only increases the rate at which those rare items drop (like mob heads), but also increases the amount of items dropped (e.g. skeletons will drop several bones instead of just one or two). Looting III would easily top our list of best overall enchantments if it didn't only apply specifically to swords.
  • Fire Aspect: Fire Aspect is absolutely crucial for PVP servers. With it, your enemies are set on fire when you strike them. Fire Aspect I is better than nothing, but Fire Aspect II will keep your opponents sweating and using precious time to douse themselves or to take potions that protect them from fire damage. If they don't have a means to get rid of Fire Aspects effects, then the battle was over before it even began.

Bows

  • Power: This enchantment doesn't provide a lot of help unless you get Power IV or Power V. However, once you do, you can essentially cut your combat time in half. If you're an expert when it comes to aiming your bow, this is the most essential enchantment you can have. While all other enchantments require more strategy to use, Power just provides excessive damage for the archery skill you already have.
  • Punch: Punch can be used for both offense and and defense, and is an all-around massively convenient enchantment to have. If you use Punch II, it knocks your opponents back much further than normal when you strike them. You can use it to knock them off of cliffs, or simply create distance between you and them. If you have the right skills, you can also use it on yourself to keep yourself in the air with Elytra.
  • Flame: Flame is essentially just Fire Aspect for Bows. When your Bow is enchanted with it, all arrows you fire will be fire arrows. If you strike an opponent with it, they will immediately catch on fire.
  • Infinity: Infinity makes it so having a single arrow in your inventory allows you to fire infinite arrows. This is an extremely helpful enchantment if you frequently run out of arrows. If that's not an issue for you, though, we recommend using one of the other enchantments listed above.

Crossbows

  • Quick Charge: This enchantment essentially just decreases your Crossbow's reload time. Quick Charge V makes your Crossbow fire its arrow instantly, which makes it an extremely powerful weapon against all mobs, including other players. We strongly recommend using this in tandem with Multishot or Piercing.
  • Multishot or Piercing: You can only have one of these enchantments on your Crossbow, and which one you choose largely depends on how you play the game. If you are usually out in the open and on the surface, Multishot is for you since it fires three arrows in a cone rather than just one. If you are usually in caves or narrow areas, then Piercing is for you since it makes the arrows shoot through their opponent and into whatever is behind them.

Trident

  • Impaling: If you are planning to raid an Ocean Monument, this is a great enchantment to have on your Trident. The only downside to it is that it only deals extra damage to aquatic mobs and has no effect on the damage multiplier for mobs on land.
  • Loyalty: Loyalty is a special enchantment that makes the Trident a massively powerful weapon. Tridents can be a melee weapon or thrown as a ranged weapon. Loyalty makes it so throwing them results in the Trident returning to your inventory after a short time. The higher the Loyalty level on your Trident, the quicker it returns to you.
  • Channeling: Channeling is one of the most interesting enchantments in the game because it can force a lighting strike on mobs struck by it when thrown. This only applies during a Thunderstorm and the mob must be exposed to the open sky for it to work. If the correct conditions are met, each of the mobs changes into the following when struck by a lighting strike:
    • Creeper: Charged Creeper
    • Villager: Witch
    • Pigs: Zombified Piglins
    • Mooshrooms: Opposite color Mooshroom
  • Riptide: Riptide allows for fast transportation for the player under specific conditions. If the player is standing in water, rain, or snow, they can throw the Riptide-enchanted Trident to teleport to where the Trident lands. This makes this item one of the fastest methods of transportation in Survival.

Best Tool Enchantments in Minecraft

Enchanted tools in Minecraft.

Axe, Sword, Shovel, Hoe, & Pickaxe

  • Fortune: Fortune is considered one of the most popular Enchantments because it's used to increase the amount of resources dropped when you mine specific types of blocks (most notably: diamonds). Because of the changes to Ore blocks in Minecraft 1.17, this enchantment is an essential enchantment to have on at least one Diamond Pickaxe. In the 1.17, all Iron, Gold, and Copper Ore Blocks drop Raw Ore (which is affected by the Fortune enchantment) instead of Ore Blocks (which are not affected).
  • Efficiency: Efficiency increases the speed at which your tool can mine blocks. While any increased speed can be helpful if you're in a rush, this enchantment is usually only worth it as Efficiency IV or Efficiency V. We strongly recommend using this with Unbreaking, otherwise your tools can disappear before you even realize it.
  • Silk Touch: Silk Touch makes it so the blocks you mine drop the blocks themselves rather raw materials. An example of this would be that using Silk Touch on a Diamond Ore Block will make it drop a Diamond Ore Block when mined, rather than a Diamond like it usually does. This is an extremely helpful enchantment, but many players forego it in exchange for a tool to have the Fortune III enchantment. These two enchantments cannot both apply to the same tool.

Fishing Rod

  • Lure: This is the most popular enchantment for players that use fishing as their primary source of food. Lure decreases the wait time to catch something from fishing by five seconds per level. Lure III can easily make fishing the fastest way to get food in the game since you can catch a fish every couple seconds.
  • Luck of the Sea: This enchantment increases the chance of finding rare treasure while fishing and decreases the chance of finding junk. It isn't as game-changing as other enchantments can be (like Mending or enchantments that add extra damage), but it is certainly a convenient enchantment to have.

Elytra

As of now, there are no enchantments that are applicable only to Elytra. Curse of Vanishing and Curse of Binding can be applied, but they provide nothing that is directly beneficial to the player using them. We recommend using Mending or Unbreakable on Elytra to decrease the amount of resources used to keep it maintained.

Best Nether Enchantments in Minecraft

These enchantments are essential if you want to go into the Nether, especially if you're expecting a fight!

  • Fire Protection: Fire Protection reduces the damage you take from all sources of heat (most notably fire and lava). Since the Nether has lava and fire everywhere, this is a necessary enchantment to stay protected.
  • Soul Speed: You can only put this enchant on your boots. When applied, it increases the speed at which you walk on Soul Sand. However, when you run on Soul Sand with boots enchanted with Soul Speed, it decreases the boots' durability. It's strongly recommended that you use Mending or Unbreakable on Boots enchanted with Soul Speed.
  • Feather Falling: Feather Falling was mentioned above as one of the best enchantments for Boots, and it especially applies to the Nether. In some of the Nether Biomes released in 1.16, there are many steep cliffs and deep chasms. This makes Feather Falling an essential enchantment for the Nether since it protects you from taking excessive damage if you accidentally fall.
  • Knockback: Knockback is crucial if you plan to go exploring the more dangerous parts of the Nether, especially Fortresses. This is more of a preventative measure than a tool. It helps put distance between you and any mobs, and can be lifesaving if you find yourself with low health while fending off mobs!
